About this file

This is a Scope of Work document for Section 260505 - Selective Demolition for Electrical, part of Project 25-388 CBI HVAC and Lighting Upgrade. The document outlines the electrical demolition requirements for the project, including the removal and disposal of existing electrical installations, equipment, and materials. The work includes disconnecting and removing abandoned wiring, conduit, outlets, panelboards, distribution equipment, and luminaires throughout the facility. The scope requires the contractor to verify field measurements and circuiting arrangements before beginning demolition, coordinate utility service outages with utility companies, and report any discrepancies to the Owner and Architect. The contractor must maintain existing electrical, fire alarm, and telephone systems in service during construction, with temporary connections and 24-hour advance notifications required for any system disabling. The project requires special handling of hazardous materials including PCB-containing equipment, DEHP-containing ballasts, and mercury-containing lamps in accordance with Federal Toxic Substances Control Act regulations.

The document specifies that all removal and disposal work must comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing toxic substances. The contractor must extend existing installations using materials and methods compatible with existing electrical systems, repair any adjacent construction and finishes damaged during demolition, and maintain access to electrical installations that remain active. The scope includes patching of walls and floors where abandoned conduit is removed, and providing blank covers for abandoned outlets not removed. No specific pricing, contract term, award date, or bidding timeline information is provided in this section of the specifications.
