About this file
This document contains specifications for rock excavation work at Carlsbad Caverns National Park. The scope of work includes removing all rock material that exceeds quantities required for other earthwork, is deemed unacceptable by the contractor's geotechnical engineer, or is potentially contaminated. The use of explosives is prohibited. Special inspections and testing will be conducted by an independent geotechnical specialist to ensure compliance with OSHA standards for excavation, trenching, and sheeting and bracing. The related federal contract opportunity is to replace failing primary electrical distribution infrastructure and elevators 1 and 2 at Carlsbad Caverns National Park for the Department of the Interior National Park Service National Office.
