Regulation pages

Read FAR, DFARS, and DFARS PGI parts, subparts, sections, clauses, and appendices with the Federal Register rules that changed them, and follow the FAR overhaul part by part.

Open Regulations, or click FAR and DFARS in the footer of a public GovTribe page. Regulation pages are free to read: you don't need a GovTribe account to open them.

GovTribe has a page for every part, subpart, section, subsection, clause, provision, and appendix in the current codified text of the FAR, the DFARS, and the DFARS Procedures, Guidance, and Information (PGI). The text comes from acquisition.gov. Overhauled FAR text published as class deviations doesn't have section pages; see Track the FAR overhaul.

Find a regulation page

  • Regulations lists the FAR, the DFARS, and the DFARS PGI, and links to the FAR overhaul tracker.
  • Each regulation's contents page, such as FAR, lists its parts and their subparts.
  • A part or subpart page lists what it contains, two levels deep, with each clause's or provision's date. Reserved numbers stay in the list, muted, so the numbering reads unbroken.

Each page's address is the citation as it is usually written, so you can type it directly:

Review a regulation section

A section page opens with the citation and title, the type (such as Clause or Solicitation provision), the regulation, and the version date for a clause or provision. Use the breadcrumb to move up to the subpart, part, and regulation.

Facts

Facts shows the details the page has for the section:

  • Citation, Type, and Current version, the clause or provision date.
  • Prescribed in links to the section that says when to use the clause or provision.
  • Alternates names the clause's alternates. Their text follows the main text.
  • Supplements links a DFARS or PGI section to the FAR section it supplements.
  • Last amended names the newest final rule on record and when it took effect.
  • Proposed changes counts the proposed rules listed under Proposed changes.
  • Text as of names the change the text reflects, such as FAC 2026-01 or DFARS Change May 7, 2026.
  • Official text links to the section on acquisition.gov.

Text

Text shows the section's full text, then each alternate. A reserved section shows that the number is held with no text. Part and subpart pages show Contents instead.

Federal Register history

Federal Register history lists the final rules that amended the section, newest first, with each rule's title, citation, docket or RIN, publication date, and effective date. Each title opens the rule on FederalRegister.gov. A correction is not listed as a rule of its own: the rule it corrects shows Corrected and the correction's date.

The table shows the 10 newest rules; the line under it shows the rest, up to 50. When a section has more, the page says how many there are. Search Federal Register documents with the Amended Section filter, such as 48 CFR 52.212-5, to see every one.

A part page lists the final rules that named the part. A subpart page has no Federal Register history.

Proposed changes

Proposed changes lists proposed rules from the last 3 years for which GovTribe found no later final rule with the same RIN or docket. Comments shows Open until and the deadline while the comment period is open, or Closed and the date with No final rule found.

A listed proposal is not necessarily still pending. It might have been withdrawn, or finalized under another RIN or docket. Older proposals with no final rule found are left out.

Sections cited, terms defined, and quick answers

  • Sections cited links to the other sections the text refers to.
  • Terms defined lists the terms the section defines.
  • Quick answers says what the section is, its current version, where it is prescribed, when it last changed, and whether changes are proposed.
  • Previous and Next move through the regulation in reading order.

Track the FAR overhaul

The FAR overhaul tracker follows the Revolutionary FAR Overhaul under Executive Order 14275, part by part:

  • Overhauled FAR parts lists each FAR part, linked to its page, with the date of its overhauled text on acquisition.gov and how many agencies have adopted it by class deviation.
  • Latest agency class deviations lists the 25 newest agency class deviations, with the agency, FAR part, and effective date. Each links to the agency's memo.
  • Federal Register rulemaking lists the newest Federal Register documents that implement Executive Order 14275, with comment deadlines.

The adoption counts come from the class deviation memos on acquisition.gov's deviation guide, so an agency that adopted a part without a memo there isn't counted.

Common questions

Is every change to a section listed?

No. The history lists at most the 50 newest final rules GovTribe linked to the section. Search Federal Register documents with the Amended Section filter for every linked document.

Do regulation pages cover the GSAR or other agency supplements?

Not yet. Regulation pages cover the FAR, the DFARS, and the DFARS PGI. Search Federal Register documents with the Regulation filter to follow changes to other supplements.
