About this opportunity
The School Board of Lake County Schools District, Florida is requesting bids on low voltage and communication systems installation labor services across 51 learning sites, with bids due September 1, 2026 at 2:00 PM EST and a questions deadline of August 18, 2026. A local preference for Lake County vendors may provide up to five additional evaluation points.
Bidders must hold a current State of Florida Certificate as an electrical contractor, certified alarm system contractor, registered alarm system contractor, certified limited energy system specialist, or registered limited energy system specialist, and must demonstrate five years of continual work experience in low voltage and communications contract labor. Approved contractors must have completed at least two similar projects within the preceding 24 months and maintain current manufacturer certifications for installation and testing of specified systems.
Scope includes maintenance, repair, modifications, and installation of intercom systems, security systems, clocks, public address systems, data lines, CCTV, telephone systems, and fiber optic cabling. Work encompasses standard data and low voltage cabling installation, fiber optic cabling termination, trenching, and directional bore installation across the district. Materials specifications are constrained to General Cable Corporation for Cat6/6A copper cabling and fiber optic products, and Hubbell Premise Wiring for connectivity components; substitutions require written approval from Lake County Public Schools IT and Shared Services at least 30 days prior to bid opening. All installations must comply with ANSI/TIA standards, National Electrical Code, and current Florida Building Code. A minimum 25-year extended warranty covering all components and workmanship is required. The contractor provides General Cable Mid-Grade Cat6/6A cabling; the School Board supplies system-specific components and repair parts. Materials purchased by the contractor are reimbursed at invoice cost plus a maximum 10% markup.
The initial contract term is three years with two one-year renewal options contingent upon mutual written agreement and Board approval. Pricing must remain firm throughout the initial contract term, be net, include FOB destination delivery, and encompass all labor, equipment, and miscellaneous supplies unless otherwise specified. Projects costing $200,000 or more require a performance bond equal to the project amount. Bidders must carry comprehensive general liability insurance ($1,000,000 minimum), automobile liability insurance ($500,000 minimum), professional liability insurance ($1,000,000 minimum), and workers' compensation insurance. All personnel must comply with the Jessica Lunsford Act background screening requirements before accessing school grounds.
