Operator User Manual for the Wireless Backhaul Configuration

1. Introduction

1.1 General Information

1.1.1 Scope

This operator’s manual for the Wireless Backhaul Configurations focuses on the functionality and program configurations of the wireless backhauls utilized within the FlexTrain program.

1.1.2 Safety

Use safety when handling the equipment even though most of the equipment is mounted in rugged cases, it is still required that all personnel must handle all Communication Shelter Electronics (CSE) equipment with caution during loading, unloading, and installation. Damage may occur if the equipment is dropped or mishandled. DO NOT attempt to lift heavy equipment by yourself, use the 2-person lift. Use caution when deploying the CSE’s during adverse conditions, i.e. thunderstorms, dust storms etc., as the communications shelter (comms shelter) may be energized with electricity. The comms shelter, Integrated Tower System trailer (ITS trailer), and ground platform should always be installed on level ground, anchored, and grounded in accordance with IC09015 and IC-OUM09015.

1.2 Equipment Description

The wireless backhaul equipment used is the same in functionality and operations, and is either 2.4GHz or 5GHz, providing us with the point to point RF path that seamlessly maintains our connectivity between all the ITS trailers, the NOC, and other units during the exercise. Below is an example of each style of wireless backhaul and their description. Refer to IC-07004 and IC-OUM-07004 (ITS Tower Masthead) for installation procedures.
