Re: Limited Asbestos Sampling Report Building 149 NH Air National Guard Newington, New Hampshire

Dear Ms. Peiser:

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) conducted limited asbestos sampling at Building 149 located at the NH Air National Guard facility in Newington, New Hampshire. As outlined in our proposal dated January 31, 2020, our scope of services was limited to the collection of bulk samples of suspect asbestos-containing materials (ACM) associated with the building roof systems, submission of the samples to an accredited laboratory, and reporting of the analytical results. Our work is subject to the Limitations contained herein.

The limited asbestos sampling was conducted at the site on June 10, 2020 by Mr. David Oliver, an asbestos inspector certified by the State of New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, Air Resource Division inspector certification is included in Appendix A.

The limited asbestos sampling was performed in general accordance with the sample collection protocols established in United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulation 40 CFR 763, the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act. A total of 21 bulk samples were collected from 7 homogeneous areas of suspect ACM. Bulk samples were submitted under chain of custody to EMSL Analytical, Inc. of Woburn, Massachusetts for analysis by polarized light microscopy with dispersion staining techniques per EPA methodology (40 CFR 763, Subpart F). The percentage of asbestos, where applicable, was determined by microscopical visual estimation. The laboratory was instructed to analyze samples from each homogeneous area until the first sample containing asbestos was identified.

Based on the results of laboratory analysis, a trace amount of asbestos was detected in one sample of the built-up roofing felts and compound collected from the

Oak Point Associates

designated work area referenced above. The sample with trace asbestos content was re-submitted to the laboratory for confirmation analysis using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). The TEM analytical result confirmed that the asbestos content in the submitted sample was less than 1% Chrysotile asbestos; therefore, the material is not classified as ACM in accordance with NH regulations. A summary of suspect ACM samples collected during the survey is included in Table 1. The laboratory analytical reports are attached in Appendix B. We recommend you maintain a copy of this report for your records and provide a copy to the contractor that is performing the roof renovation work.

LIMITATIONS

Limited asbestos sampling was conducted in a manner consistent with the level of care and skill ordinarily exercised by members of the profession currently practicing under similar conditions in the same locale. The results, findings, conclusions and recommendations expressed in this report are based on conditions observed during the limited sampling event. This letter report has been prepared on behalf of and exclusively for use and reliance by the Client. This report is not a bidding document. Contractors or consultants reviewing this limited sampling report must draw their own conclusions regarding further investigation or remediation deemed necessary. GZA does not warrant the work of regulatory agencies, laboratories or other third parties supplying information, which may have been used in the preparation of this report. No warranty, express or implied is made.

GZA appreciates the opportunity to provide this service to Oak Point Associates. If you have any questions regarding this limited asbestos sampling report, please contact us at (603) 623-3600.

Very truly yours, GZA GEOENVIRONMENTAL, INC.

Re: Limited Asbestos Sampling Report Building 256 NH Air National Guard Newington, New Hampshire

Dear Ms. Peiser:

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) conducted limited asbestos sampling at Building 256 located at the NH Air National Guard facility in Newington, New Hampshire.

Laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of ACMs, including penetration and edge flashing compound. In addition, a trace amount of asbestos was detected in two

samples of the built-up roofing felts and compound collected from the designated work area referenced above.

The samples with trace asbestos content were re-submitted to the laboratory for confirmation analysis using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). The TEM analytical results confirmed that the asbestos content in the submitted samples were non-detected or less than 1% Chrysotile asbestos; therefore, the material is not classified as ACM in accordance with NH regulations. A summary of suspect ACM samples collected during the survey is included in Table 1. The laboratory analytical reports are attached in Appendix B. A summary of the classification, condition, and approximate quantity of identified ACM is presented in Table 2.

In New Hampshire, a properly trained roofing contractor is permitted to perform removal of ACM roofing material as long as the material remains in a non-friable condition, and the materials are properly packaged and disposed of at a facility approved for asbestos waste. We recommend you maintain a copy of this report for your records and provide a copy to the contractor that is performing the roof renovation work.

This summary includes the location, material type, and approximate quantities of accessible asbestos identified in the site buildings. Quantities of materials were assessed by a non-calibrated wheeled tape measure or visual estimation and should be considered as approximate values. It should be noted that these are only estimates, and are based on limited visual observations of accessible areas of the site.

3. Category I Non-friable: Includes asbestos-containing packings, gaskets, asphaltic roofing products, resilient flooring, pliable sealants and mastics.

2. RACM: Includes materials that, when dry, may be crumbled, pulverized or reduced to powder by hand pressure.
