About this file

This is a Request for Information (RFI) document providing government responses to contractor questions regarding backflow preventer replacement work at McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas, under Solicitation W50S7X-26-Q-0010.

The RFI addresses five key inquiries from potential contractors. Question 1 provides manufacturer, model, and serial number details for five backflow preventer devices scheduled for replacement across Buildings 33, 44, 48, and 65, including a 6" Maxim 200 DC in Building 33, a 1" Watts 909 RPZ in Building 44 Room 118, a 4" Colt 200 DC in Building 44 Room 122, a 4" Colt 200 DC in Building 48, and a 2-1/2" Wilkins 350 DC in Building 65. Question 2 clarifies that contractors must unwire and rewire alarm tamper switches on existing backflow valves when needed, requiring 24-hour advance notice. Question 3 identifies the devices at Buildings 5 and 56 as Watts 1-1/2" and 1" 009M2 QT RP models respectively, with serial numbers 140892 and 277591. Question 4 confirms that the August 12 site visit materials satisfy the requirement to inspect site conditions, though contractors are welcome to conduct additional inspections of Buildings 5 and 56, and site pictures have been provided. Question 5 clarifies that the government accepts properly sized, code-compliant like-for-like or equivalent replacement backflow preventers meeting all SOW requirements, without specifying particular manufacturers or models.
