Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE), Hardware, Software, and Ancillary Services

UPDATED 2.5.22

VEH102 Cat.1

VENDOR
SERVICE PROFILE
FreeWire Technologies
Description of Products and Services:

FreeWire manufactures battery-integrated EVSE that increases utilization rates and reduces the need for expensive grid upgrades, enabling customers to scale up EV charging quickly and cost-effectively. The technology uses energy storage for a smoother energy consumption curve and supports energy arbitrage (purchasing and storing electricity during off-peak times to be utilized for charging during high demand periods), while minimizing peak-hour draw (and associated peak costs) from the grid.

FreeWire’s Mobi products including the Gen and Charger deliver up to 11 kW total to two vehicles simultaneously for seven hours (80 kWh capacity). The system is housed in a 32” (w) x 52” (l) x 42” (h) mobile frame with a high-torque electric drive for transport at speeds up to 4 mph. The system has integrated GPS and a user-friendly, ruggedized touchscreen interface that includes readings and diagnostics, energy monitoring and run-time monitoring with remote telemetry. The Mobi is networked and ADA compliant, serving any parking spot without reconfiguration of parking spaces and is installed in a day.

FreeWire’s Boost Charger system is an innovative battery-integrated (160 kW) ultrafast charger that outputs 120kW to the vehicles while only drawing up to 27 kW from the grid drawing power from a standard, low-power, single phase 240V or three phase 208V grid connection – the same low-cost infrastructure commonly used for Level 2 charging. The Boost has OCPP and OCPI 1.6 and is ADA-compliant, with overall access height 48” from grade. Based on the installation location, curb height can be factored into the design.
