STANDARD WASTE AND SCRAP CLASSIFICATION (SCL) CODES
DEFINITION: SCL codes are used to classify scrap into its proper scrap commodity group to obtain maximum sales potential and to provide a uniform method for maintaining accounting records.
The most common SCL codes with their definitions used under this solicitation are listed. This list is not all inclusive. A few sites may have small quantities of scrap in other SCL groups. A complete listing of scrap codes may be found in DRMS-I 4160.14, Section 4 at the DRMS web page.
Immediately prior to the definitions are representative photographs of scrap as it may be sorted into differing SCL groups. These photos are not all inclusive and should not be considered representative of collections of scrap at all sites.
