About this file
This is Addendum No. 2 to RFP 8703 issued by the City of Waterbury, Connecticut, Office of the Director of Purchasing, dated March 24, 2026, for elevator construction projects at Griggs and Woodrow Wilson Elementary Schools. The addendum amends the original RFP documents and requires all proposers to acknowledge receipt of all addenda on the Addendum Acknowledgment Form to avoid disqualification. Key revisions include modifications to the Wilson school demolition plans (D1.1), specifically requiring infill at the existing opening where the new elevator shaft will be located. The addendum includes sign-in sheets from mandatory pre-bid walkthroughs held on March 9, 2026, and March 18, 2026. The original bid deadline was extended from March 25, 2026, to March 31, 2026, at 11:30 a.m., with no further extensions granted. Proposers submitted questions by March 12, 2026, with answers provided in this addendum addressing technical clarifications regarding building specifications, site conditions, insurance requirements, security systems, foundation details, and elevator access control specifications.
The addendum specifies that proposals exceeding $50,000 must include proposal security in the form of a certified check or bid bond equal to ten percent of the total proposal price. All provisions of the original RFP documents remain in full force and effect except as amended by this addendum. Key information clarifications include confirmation that the buildings have two floors above grade and one below grade; the nearest fire department is 0.8 miles away (paid department) with a fire hydrant located 300 feet away at Pine Street and Woodlawn; the existing building construction type is assumed to be 2B; the monitoring system is wired rather than wireless; there is no 24/7 security guard; limited sprinkler systems exist; and any tariff increases must be addressed through change orders requiring city approval. The geotechnical report referenced in specifications was performed by Freeman Co., and all elevations and existing conditions must be field verified by the contractor.

Answer: Awarded company will have to issue a change order and receive an approval.
