12. General Question

– General;
2.46 Car
Enclosure:
Passenger Elevators And 2.48
2.46 says to provide new passenger and service car doors and 2.48 says to retain existing. Please clarify.
Bryan
Section “2.46 Car Enclosure, Paragraph I. shall be modified to read “Retain existing stainless steel car doors. Doors to be cleaned and refinished to a like new condition.”
Refer to Amendment A00004 for revisions to Attachment J01, paragraph 2.46
15. Electrical There are four existing disconnects that are providing power to the elevator equipment in the Machine Rooms. Can someone confirm there are existing ground wires with the feeders?
Bryan
The main electrical distribution panel in the machine room has an existing ground. Contractor shall replace all electrical conductors from the main electrical distribution panel to each new disconnect switch/shunt trip circuit breaker for each elevator.
16.
Tech Spec 14 21 01 2.7a
1. 1. Paragraph 2.7a states to include regen drive if economically advantaged to government. A regen drive is a very expensive add, and we have no way of telling what the power savings will be, but the payback period could be several years, making it not economically advantaged. We just need to know if customer wants regen drives included in the bid or not included in the bid.
A regen drive is not a requirement of this project.
SOW has been modified to remove the following sentence “Add Regenerative Drive when economically advantageous to the Government.”
Refer to Amendment A00004 for revisions to Attachment J01, paragraph 2.7.A

Tech Spec 14 21 00 2.8a
1. Specs require separate monitoring for each elevator however specs say each elevator is simplex. The elevators are actually duplex (2 groups of 2 elevator). Since the elevator operation is duplex, this should only require monitoring for each pair of elevators. Please have customer confirm.
SOW has been modified to change Operation from Simplex to Duplex.
Refer to Amendment A00004 for revisions to Attachment J01, paragraph 1.1 Table of Existing Elevators and 2.8. Machine Room Monitor, paragraph A.
18.
The existing fan coil units do not meet the 7’ clearance requirement as required for the servicing and maintenance of the elevator equipment in the machine room. Will new mini split AC units be required as part of this proposal the correct this clearance issue?
Please advise.
It is the Contractor’s responsibility to meet height clearance requirements of ASME A17.1 – 2007.
However, new mini split AC units are NOT a requirement of this project but would be acceptable to correct this clearance issue.
19.
Please identify the specific version (applicable year) for the ASTM‐
17.1 that applies for this project?.
DISCUSSION: The most recent ASMT 17.1 (2019) includes challenging elements for an existing facility to implement. Using this standard adds considerable cost for almost no safety benefit. Recommend using 2016 standard.
I believe you meant ASME A17.1, instead of ASTM‐ 17.1.
Refer to question #13 above.
SOW has been modified to specify the version of ASME A17.1 from latest edition to 2007. Refer to Amendment A00004 for revisions to Attachment J01, paragraph 1.1. and 1.4
20.
Please confirm whether the Pit Ladders are to comply with ASTM 17.1 or are acceptable as is.
DISCUSSION. two of the ladders are not positioned IAW ASTM 17.1.
Pit ladders shall be in compliance with ASME A17.1 – 2007.
