About this file

This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the design, fabrication, assembly, and testing of a new sample motions assembly for the Soft Matter Interfaces (SMI) beamline at the National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS-II) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL).

The SOW requires the vendor to complete the design, engineering, fabrication, cleaning, assembly, testing, and delivery of the new sample motions assembly. The assembly must fit within the spatial envelope of the current system. This SOW is provided as an attachment to a federal contract opportunity issued by the Department of Energy Office of Science, solicitation number PB449156, for the SMI Beamline Sample Motions Assembly. The proposal due date is August 14, 2024.

L lntroduction

The SMI beamline is a currently operating beamline at NSLS-ll. The SMI Team is looking to replace their current parallel-kinematic sample motion assembly with a serial-kinematic stack of motion stages. lll of the requirements for the new assembly are given in the accompanying Specifications document. This new assembly will need to fit into the space occupied by the current assembly. The spatial envelope defining the space available is described in the accompanying drawing.

2. Statement of Work

The Vendor shall complete all the following items:

o Design and Engineering effort required to provide the Sample Motions Assembly.

o Fabrication and purchasing of all items needed for the assembly.

o Cleaning the assembly for in-vacuum use.

o Assembly and testing of the assembly at the Vendor's facility.

o Packing and shipment of the assembly for safe arrival at BNL.
