QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS #1
The following are answers to questions received from potential offerors. The answers provide clarification only and DO NOT constitute an amendment to the solicitation.
QUESTION #1:
In review of the freeboard preservation work item WI# 908, it is noted that paragraph 3.1.1.3 (see below) specifies that the blast area run up over the flight deck edge 12 inches inboard from the deck edge.
3.1.1.3 Stern Port and Stbd (fantail Deck Area) protect interior of the fantail Deck with ply-wood to protect deck areas and protect all equipment. The Sand blast SP-10 surface areas shall include twelve (12) inches of the interior deck edge.
Conversely when reviewing the Flight Deck preservation work item WI# 1001, it is noted that paragraph 8.1.1 (see below) specifies the flight deck width, shell to shell - 32.2 Meters; which includes the inboard areas cited in WI# 908, paragraph 3.1.1.3.
8.1. Square footage calculations
8.1.1. Flight deck width, shell to shell - 32.2 Meters
8.1.2. Flight deck length, frame 78 to frame 101 - 31.85 Meters
To eliminate redundancies in pricing, we recommend paragraph 3.1.1.3 of be deleted from WI# 908 in its entirety.
ANSWER:
The work item 908 paragraph 3.1.1.3 describes the requirements for the preservation of the astern Port and Stbd side in way of the inboard fantail Deck Areas. The areas that need to be protected interior of the fantail Deck with ply-woods are all the deck machinery equipment's. The Sand blasting to SP-10 surface areas will include twelve (12) inches of the interior deck edge to outboard shell only. This paragraph will not be deleted and it will require to be accomplished by the Contractor.
For Work item 1001 paragraph 7.3.5 the Contractor is required to preserve the Edges and Trim the borders around the deck edge, around foundations, tie downs, "trough area" etc. The trough area is also included in the width shell to shell equal 32.2 meters. No redundancies to be eliminated between work item 908 and 1001.
