1. QUESTION:

Specification Section 32 84 00 Part 1 1.1 A states “All planted areas, street trees, and lawn areas are to be irrigated on grade on the east, north, and west sides of the building, and in the interior courtyard.” Please confirm that there is no interior courtyard work in this SOW.

RESPONSE: Confirmed. There is no interior courtyard work in this SOW. (Carvalho & Good)

2. QUESTION:

Please specify manufacturer of the decorative metal sheath for fixed bollards.

RESPONSE: Custom fabricate per 057000 (GBR Architects)

3. QUESTION: Please specify manufacturer for the metal fence panels.

RESPONSE: Custom fabricate per 057000 (GBR Architects)

4. QUESTION: Please clarify the existing pavers construction details.

RESPONSE: Existing pavers are set on sand setting bed with sand swept joints. (Carvalho &

Good)

5. QUESTION: Please provide a specific location for the jersey barrier relocation

RESPONSE: Location will be within 50 miles of the National Capital Region.

6. QUESTION: Please clarify the anticipated start of construction.

RESPONSE: Award is subject to the availability of funding. As such the Government would like to award around August/September 2016.

7. QUESTION: Please provide specifications for the bio-retention soil.

RESPONSE: See attached revised Spec Section 32.9113.19 PLANTING SOIL (Carvalho &

Good).

A.V. Bryan Courthouse Perimeter Security Improvement Project

RFP AMENDMENT 003 dated 21 June 2016

8. QUESTION: Is a sump pump needed for the hydraulic bollard system?

RESPONSE: The basis of design bollards does not require a sump pump, as the drain out of the basin is a gravity drain. The basis of design bollard systems uses a biodegradable oil instead of hydraulic fluid. If a different yet equal product is used, an oil/water separator will be required.

Samples shall be typical of the lot of material to be delivered to the site and provide an accurate indication of color, texture, and organic make-up of the material. Soil analyses of the topsoil and of the planting soil mix, stating pH, nutrient levels (N, P, K), and a mechanical analysis of the topsoil conducted in accordance with ASTM D-422 shall be made by a qualified soil testing lab and submitted to the Architect prior to use. The soil analysis must give recommendations for soil amendments for the intended use.

a. Soil Chemical Analysis: Submit a soil chemical analysis performed by a recognized testing laboratory. Soil analysis shall contain recommendations for adjustments to obtain optimum pH, nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, soluble salts and trace elements.

1). Provide additive and amendments recommended by the testing laboratory upon review and approval or adjustment of the Architect.

2). Provide a minimum of three particle size analysis tests from samples obtained randomly throughout the source stock pile or field.

b. Testing and all adjustments and amendments shall be at the Contractor’s expense.
