MMHS Shaw AFB Question Set 5

Q1. The new drawing TSH804-06(REV1) shows dolly/cart storage on the drawing and has a note that *ladders, dollies and pallet jacks to be provided as specified in cover pd”. There is no new paragraph in the cover for dollies. Does dollies refer to the rolling carts or something else already asked for, or is it a new addition?

A1. The referenced dollies refer to the rolling carts, no new additional materials are required.

Q2.Drawings -02 and -06 were updated to show where the vehicle charger is going and where the electrical is. Do any of the 3 buildings already have an existing connection we can utilize?

A2. No charging connection currently exists in any of the buildings.

Q3.Can you please provide n approx. distance for each drawing?

A3. Approximate dimensions for each building are as follows:

216: 200’ x 108’ (For bay that equipment is being installed in) 1518: 60’x 90’ (For bay that equipment is being installed in) 1604: 100’ x 270’ (For entire building)

Q4.The paragraph for disposal and removal does not specify whether we are to remove the scrap from the base on our own or bring to a base recycling center . Can you please confirm whether we are to dispose of ourselves or utilize on base facilities?

A4. The contractor is to dispose of themselves, no on base facilities are available for disposal.

Q5.If we are to use on-base facilities, will they provide a dumpster or will we be required to transport?

A5. No base recycling center shall be used. Any equipment required for the demolition shall be provided by the contractor.

Q6. Building 216: There is a significant contradiction between your new drawing TSH804-06(REV1), drawing TSH804-05 , and the new cover purchase description 3.1.19 REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL OF EXISTING EQUIPMENT (REV1). Drawing TSH804-05 indicates 4 existing VLMs, and drawing TSH804- 06(REV1) indicates 2 VLMs to remain. I have marked up TSH804-05 to label the 4 existing VLMs and identify them as 1, 2, 3 & 4. The red X marks that are now shown on the photographs of the new cover purchase description 3.1.19 REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL OF EXISTING EQUIPMENT (REV1) are showing that VLM #3 shall be removed, while your new drawing TSH804-06(REV1) shows that VLM #1 and #4 shall be removed. Given that VLMs 1 & 2 are the two VLMs that are designed for and utilized to store small parts in a partition/divider system, it seems that those would be the two that are intended to remain in place. While it also seems that VLM#3 (which is designed and utilized for secure storage of pilferable

MMHS Shaw AFB Question Set 5 items with very large open trays, an automatic opening and closing front door and an Access Code control system) would be intended to be removed as there is now a Pilferable Items cage specified to be adjacent to the VLMs. It does make sense that VLM#4 would be removed as it is obsolete and inoperable. If in fact the intention is to have VLMs 1 and 2 remain, does the scope of work now entail relocating VLM 2 to be adjacent to the left of VLM1? Additionally, it does not seem to make sense to relocate a machine such a short distance where instead the surrounding layouts of pallet racking and/or cages can easily be shifted to allow VLMs 1 to remain where it is.

A6. The VLMs designated as 2 and 3 in the drawings provided with this question shall remain and the VLMs designated as 1 and 4 shall be removed. This is also reflected in AF Drawings TSH804-05 and -06 without specific numbers associated with each VLM. The red “X’s” shown in the revised Cover PD were indicated those pictures no longer apply. The pictures without the “X’s” show the VLMs that are to be removed.

Q7. Finally, may we ask that you consider keeping VLM#3 in place since it is a quite new piece of expensive equipment that has an outstanding service and performance history and does in fact serve as a secured storage area for Pilferable Items? Our understanding is that it serves this purpose well for the end users, and would be complemented by the additional pilferable storage area for very large and heavy items in the cage area you have now specified for Building 216. Ultimately the question is should the scope of work for removal of the VLMs in building 216 be limited to removing only VLM 4 which is obsolete and inoperable, and make no alterations to the three existing Hanel VLMs (1, 2 & 3)?

A7. The VLMs designated as 2 and 3 in the drawings provided with this question shall remain and the VLMs designated as 1 and 4 shall be removed. This is also reflected in AF Drawings TSH804-05 and -06 without specific numbers associated with each VLM.

Q8. Building 1518: Please confirm that the two Hanel VLMs currently installed on the North wall of your drawing TSH804-03 are not to be removed? They are not listed in the cover purchase description 3.1.19 REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL OF EXISTING EQUIPMENT (REV1), however, they are not shown in drawing

TSH804-04.

A8. Per question set #3, the existing VLMs in Building 1518 shall not be included as part of this contract.
