18. Q Attachment 2: CS 5 and Attachment 3; CS-6 drawings are identified as 100 percent. However, the drawings are not signed and sealed by designers of record. Are the solicitation drawings considered 100% for Construction?
100% Construction Documents are Dated July 07th, 2010. Independent signed and sealed originals reside in the office of CE.
| 19. Q | Moveable partition head detail on A5.X.13 references sheet A2.3.01. Should this reference be to sheet A.2.2.01, as no reference to a partition is on sheet A.2.3.01 and there is a movable partition shown on A.2.2.01? |
| A | Detail 5 on Sheet A5.X.13 shall reference Sheet A2.2.01. |
| 20. Q | Contractor is responsible for fire suppression design. Designs should have sprinkler heads installed directly in the center of the corridors. E3 series drawings show communications cable trays to be installed in the center of the corridors. Previously, the cable trays for communications wiring were installed in soffits. Are the drawings showing notional locations of the cable trays so that sprinklers can be installed in the center of the corridors? |
| A | For purposes of clarity, each discipline is depicted in their own sheet. The General Contractor is responsible for coordinating all the trades and interpret the design intent, considering the space limitations for each building component. Communications trays and fire suppression have been installed both in the ACT area (grid) of the corridor ceilings. |
| 21. Q | The Specifications say that working hours are from 6 am to 7 pm M-F, with no work on the weekends. Will the contractor be permitted to work 7 days per week due to the aggressive timelines for this project? |
| A | The contractor may be permitted to work weekends with prior coordination and approval of 10 CES, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Contracting Offficer. Approval would be based on scheduled Cadet activities and type of work being performed. |
| 22. Q | Key note 8 on A1 series drawings state that the contractor is responsible for replacing any part of the heater covers that is damaged. Can the Government quantify any existing damage to these covers for bidding purposes? |
| A | Demolition Activities have not yet occurred, therefore this data, at this time is unquantifiable. However, for bidding purposes, 14 shall be considered for CS 5 and 12 shall be considered for CS 6. |
| 23. Q | Are the Cadet Room medicine wall cabinets to have a mirror face? |
| A | Please refer to Specification Section 102800 – Toilet, Bath and Laundry Accessories, Page 15 of 15 for a cut sheet of the upper, wall medicine cabinet. |
| 24. Q | What is the expectation of the restored millwork finish? There was a wide range of finishes seen on the walk-through. Does the wood need to be stripped and completely refinished, or can it be touched-up, glazed, and clear coated? | |
| A | Please refer to Sheet A7.X.01 – Typical Millwork Elevations, Photographic Examples and Notes. In addition to the drawings, refer to Specification Section 064023 – Interior Architectural Woodwork and Specification Section 099300 – Staining and Transparent Finishing. | |
| 25. Q | Please identify the wall types for the “non-structural partitions” being demolished. i.e. CMU or Lath & Plaster or Metal stud and drywall. Reference demolition key note 8 on the demolition plans. | |
| A | Please refer to Sheet A6.X.00 – Enlarged Plan – Typical Cadet Room and Wall Types. | |
| 26. Q | Level 5 drywall finishing is mentioned in specification section 092900 2.4 C.5. Is it required everywhere? | |
| A | Please refer Specification Section 092900 Gypsum Board, Subsection 3.5 D, Items 1 – 3. | |
| 27. Q | Many of the existing walls that remain have some type of texture on them. Are all the new walls to receive texture, and if so, what type? | |
| A | The new walls shall match the existing knock down texture that will be maintained in the corridors. | |
| 28. Q | Are area wells on Vandenberg Drive accessible to use for loading material in the basement? | |
| A | Coordination with the USAFA at time of Construction shall occur. In the past, various area wells on the North side of the building have been used, with the proper safety perimeter. Please refer to Detail 1 on Sheet G0.0.01 for removable slab over area well. | |
| 29. | Q | The period of performance states “259 days” is this just for the base CLIN? |
| A | Yes, the option CLINs do not figure into the stated period of performance. Period of Performance would be indicated if/when the options are exercised. |
