Questions and Answers

All revisions/answers to questions apply to the original Solicitation.

*** Request that all further questions be submitted no later than 9 Sep 2016 1400 CST.*** *** No questions should be sent to the A&E design firm (Kenneth Hahn). Any questions must be directed to 2d Lt Justin Sievers, in accordance with the solicitation.***

Q1: Please allow local acoustical contractors to bid the Gray Hall Dorm 222 project with USG ceiling products.

A1: Spec 09 51 00 contains the technical requirements that must be met. The product list is "or approved equal" that is not all inclusive. Also, USG is included in the list.

Q2: (RE: Spec 23 05 93 list of acceptable vendors) Can (a bidder) still bid the TAB portion of this project if we are not on this list? Can (bidders) be added to this list?

A2: Any vendor meeting the performance/certification requirements should be acceptable. The list has been removed from the spec to avoid confusion. See spec 23 05 93 revised 30 August 2016.

Q3: On the sheet FG101 note 12 states do not provide side outlet tees using rubber gasket fittings. Is this referring to the Mechanical tees that clamp to the pipe or the socket type that slide on and are held in place by set screws?

A3: Per UFC 3-600-01, side outlet tees using rubber gasket fittings are not allowed in new installations. Pipes must be cut to the required length and provided with a proper grooved, flanged or threaded (as the case may dictate) fitting.

Q4: We respectfully submit for your consideration a request to approve Icynene ProSeal MD-C-200 v3spray foam insulation as an accepted substitute on Gray Hall Dormitory Building Renovation.

A4: Product approval/acceptance will not be made during the bid process. An official submittal is required under the awarded contract

Q5: Detail 1A/S-501, Is the 8'- 6-1/4" the typical height for all steel tube frames for all windows on all floors?

A5: The typical height is 8' 6-1/4", but actual conditions must be field verified

Q6: Due to the size of the project and LEED requirements, will it be acceptable to extend the construction fence w/gates further into the West parking lot (to the nearest adjacent parking lot island) and use the adjacent vehicle paring row for construction personnel parking?

A6: The fenced area may be expanded to the first row of parking if required as described in the question. See notes on sheet G-010 revised 6 Sep 16.

Q7: I have been advised by several roofing contractors that they cannot fabricate 20' gutter sections, only 10' gutter sections due to the capacities of their fabricating equipment.

Please advise.

A7: Gutters are available in 20' lengths from manufacturers whose products are available in the region.

Q8: Code Analysis and Sheet A-105 -- Attic Plan. Want to confirm that there will be no need for draft stops as per the NFPA Life Safety Codes identified on Sheet G-009.

A8: Draft stops are not required in an existing attic under the scope of this project.

Q9: Will all the furniture (beds, dressers, tables, chairs, couches, etc.) and appliances (stoves, microwaves, refrigerator/freezers, ice makers, vending machine, washer, dryer, etc.) be removed prior to construction, less the items identified in the project documents for the contractor to salvage and turn over to the GFAFB?

A9: Furniture and appliances will be removed prior to construction activities.
