1. Could we get some clarification on the haul route? At the site visit on 29th of May, I believe it was stated that the back entrance might be able to be used, but we should bid to haul through the main entrance. That is a potential big price difference, and would like to clarify if that is a possibility or not?
Answer: For bidding purposes you must assume that you will have to use the Main Gate on 10th Ave North.
2. How big of a staging area will be available, for example will we be able to have equipment, truck, office, and stockpiles of Gravel fit? Also, will there be power and water hook ups for mobile office?
Answer: Per Specification 01 00 00 part 3.16 A the contractor will be assigned a storage are of 3,000 SF, more or less. A larger area may be available for storage of gravel. Power and utilities will be available per Specification 01 00 00 Part 1.2 A.
3. Is there water available on site for project dust control and compaction?
Answer: Per Specification 01 00 00 Part 1.2 A. utilities will be made available. There is a permanent water fill station behind building 471 for contractor us. (a fire hydrant fitted with a backflow preventer.) If the contractor wants assess to a hydrant closer to the job site one can be provided but the contractor must provide their own backflow preventer that has been certified within the last year.
Question: The plans for this project show 6384 CY of cut and 5290 CY of fill which is a difference of 1094 CY. Is there a waste area on the project for the 1094 CY or will the 1094 CY need to be hauled away?
Answer: This material can be hauled to, and dumped, on base near the concrete/asphalt recycling area on base. This is located north of the project site near Pow Wow Pond and the wood recycling area. On the cover sheet it is just north of the project site arrow located on the first road that runs west and east on the "MAFB Location Map".
