MEMORANDUM FOR INTERESTED PARTIES

FROM: 436 CONS/LGCA

639 Atlantic Street Dover Air Force Base, Delaware l9902-5639

SUBJECT: Questions and Answers #2: HVAC Renovation Bldg 200, Dover Air Force Base, Delaware

1. The following questions were asked by one or more interested parties and are answered by this office:

1. QUESTION: Monaco Enterprises is mentioned in the fire alarm (F/A) spec and the drawings only show one duct detector being removed (E2.1 note 6) and a new duct detector (E 3.1 note 6) with F/A cable. Can someone clarify that this is the extent of F/A work.

ANSWER: : In addition to installing the new duct detector called out on drawing E3.1 the contractor will be responsible for the disconnection, reconnection, supporting, and protection of the devices affected by his work. Upon completion of his work the contractor shall conduct fire alarm testing per the contract specifications. The fire alarm testing for this project shall include testing 10% of the existing devices to ensure that they are in proper working order after the completion of the project work.

QUESTION: SECTION 23 09 23 Page 19 - 2.8.6 Flow Sensors mentions Insertion Turbine Meters -- What flows will these me monitoring? is there need for new meters or is this spec referring to exising meters? If it is for new applications, what are the line sizes, flow rates, operating temperatures and pressures. These information is necessary for selecting the appropriate rotor when sizing insertion turbine meters.

ANSWER: The specification section is identifying requirements for insertion turbine flow meters should they be required. The drawings for this renovation do not appear to specifically call out any insertion turbine flow meters, however, should the contractor determine that one is necessary, it shall be provided in accordance with the specification. This specification is for new meters not existing. If insertion turbine flow meters are necessary at the location, actual line sizes, and flowrates will have to be coordinated with the mechanical subcontractor's installation shop drawings before selections can be made.

3. QUESTION: Is there a reason for the interior and exterior lighting specificationsections? I've double and triple checked the 17 sheets of drawings and do not see any lights. Is this for Building 403, 780 and 781?

ANSWER: This specification set was issued as a single specification to cover multiple energy renovation projects that were similar in nature. It is most likely that this specification section is intend to cover interior or exterior lighting work on one of the other projects. Based on our best

639 Atlantic Street Dover AFB, Delaware 19902-5639 review of the project drawings there does not appear any lighting work other than the removal and reinstallation of the lighted bollards adjacent to the chiller.

4. QUESTION: We have noticed the 2 following spec sections, 05 12 00 Structural Steel and 07 42 13 Metal Wall Panels. Can you please advise the scope of work for these 2 specification sections as we cannot find the related work referenced in the drawings or notes.

ANSWER: This specification set was issued as a single specification to cover multiple energy renovation projects that were similar in nature. It is most likely that these specification sections (metal wall panels & structural steel) were intended to cover work on one of the other projects.

5. QUESTION: P1.1 shows 2- UR-1, 1- WC-1 & L-1 as new fixtures. The Plumbing Fixture Schedule leads us to believe that the intent is to replace all flush valves and faucets. Was the intent to replace all per the schedule or just the 4 that were labeled?

ANSWER: The intent is for the contractor to only replace the fixtures identified on the drawing, which are (2) urinals, (1) water closet, and (1) lavatory faucet.
