About this file
This is Addendum #3 specifications document for Southwest Texas Junior College's LaForge Hall HVAC renovation project, specifically detailing requirements for switchboards with circuit breaker type electrical equipment. The specification establishes technical requirements for 250-volt, 3-phase 4-wire switchboards rated for 1600 amps or higher with a minimum short circuit interrupting rating of 65,000 amps. Approved manufacturers include Eaton Pow-R-Line C, GE by ABB ReliaGear Series, Siemens Energy & Automation SB Series, and Square D QED Series, each equipped with specific digital trip units as outlined. The switchboards must include solid-state digital multi-function meters capable of displaying voltage, current, power factor, frequency, kVA, kW, and maximum/minimum values with BACnet or Modbus protocol output. Enclosures must conform to NEMA standards, utilize plated copper busing with fully-rated phase and neutral buses, and incorporate group-mounted circuit breakers in deadfront construction. The specification requires compliance with multiple industry standards including NEMA PB 2, UL 891, UL 489, and NECA 400, with installation performed per manufacturer instructions and industry best practices on concrete pads with proper plumbing and coordination per the coordination study.
Submittal requirements include product data, dimensioned shop drawings showing raceway entry/exit locations and device arrangements, busing diagrams with material specifications, one- or three-line electrical diagrams with circuit breaker details, and test reports per commissioning standards. The contractor must provide operation and maintenance data conforming to NEMA standards and deliver as-built shop drawings at project closeout. All switchboards must be stored in clean, dry environments protected from dust and foreign objects, shipped in suitable containers, and inspected upon site delivery for damage. The specification does not address pricing, set-asides, or incumbent information, as this is a technical specification document focused exclusively on product standards, component requirements, and installation procedures for electrical switchboard equipment in this renovation project.
