6.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: None additional.
7. STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED
7.1. Remove the existing port and starboard skid mounted air conditioning chilled water plants.
7.1.1. Removal of the existing plants and installation of the new plants will require a temporary access cut(s) in the ship’s side shell.
Prior to making access cuts in the hull, submit sketch of proposed access cut to the local ABS Surveyor for review and approval. The sketch shall show as a minimum the proposed access cut, adjacent framing members, nearby penetrations in existence, and scantlings of affected structure. It shall also provide a description of the eventual restoration of the structure to its original configuration, including materials and welding details. A

25140-2 narrative justification for cutting the opening shall also appear on the sketch.
7.1.2.Provide copy of approved access cut sketch to the COTR in form of condition report.
7.1.3.The temporary access in the hull is to be made weather proof with lumber or other suitable means to prevent rain intrusion into the vessel.
7.2. Evacuate and properly dispose of each plant’s R-22 charge. Each plant contains approximately 200 lbs of refrigerant.
7.3. Remove and properly dispose of each plants’ compressor oil.
7.4. Disconnect all piping from each unit utilizing reference 2.5 for guidance.
7.4.1. Retain all removed expansion joints for re-utilization
7.5. Disconnect and pull back electrical and control connections. These cables will be utilized for new unit.
7.5.1. Remove the existing cable kick pipes for each unit (3 per unit). Insert deck in way of removals.
7.6. Crop off existing foundation flush to the deck and grind smooth in way of removals.
7.7. Relocate one each compressed air refrigerated moisture separator currently located aft of the port plant. The existing installation has the unit orientated forward/aft. Temporarily remove the unit and it’s existing foundation until the port plant is installed in place.
Reinstall the unit and it’s foundation with a port/starboard orientation to allow room for the new plant. Modify the 1” IPS steel piping for air inlet and outlet, as well as the copper tubing drain connection to accommodate the reorientation of this unit.
7.8. Install the new Government Provided Equipment (GFE) listed in paragraph 4.1.
7.8.1.Fabricate and install new foundations to accommodate each new plant utilizing Reference 2.5 for guidance.
7.8.2. Mount each new unit by bolting to the foundation with the GFM vibration mounting pads. Provide and install new fasteners. Note that the unit shall be level to within 1/16 inch per foot along the long axis of the unit.
7.8.3. Install new piping from the existing ship’s piping to each new plant utilizing Reference 2.5 for guidance. Note that Reference
2.5 is for guidance only on the general configuration of the new piping. The contractor is not to prefabricate piping based on
14 July 2017
25140-3 this drawing, but instead field install piping after the new plant skids have been secured to the foundations.
7.8.3.1. Install new salt water supply and return piping. Piping is to be 90/10 CUNI piping, welded.
7.8.3.2. Install new chilled water supply and return piping.
Piping is copper tubing, Type L, ASTM B-88.
7.8.3.3. Install copper tubing from the refrigerant relief valves to the existing relief valve vent piping for each unit.
7.8.3.4. Install piping brackets and supports as required. Ensure that there is no weight or stress on the condenser and chiller connections.
7.8.3.5. Install the following pressure gages and thermometers in the piping for each plant. These gages/thermometers are to be 5 to 10 pipe diameters from the plant’s piping connections.
a)Chilled water supply thermometer b)Chilled water discharge thermometer c)Salt Water Cooling inlet thermometer
d) Salt Water Cooling outlet thermometer
e) Salt water cooling inlet pressure
f) Salt water cooling outlet pressure
7.8.3.6. Accomplish pressure testing of new and modified piping to the satisfaction of the attending ABS Surveyor.
7.8.3.7. Lag all new and disturbed salt water and chilled water piping insulation with closed cell insulation to match the existing insulation. Wrap insulation with cloth and paint.
7.8.4. Install new junction boxes in the overhead of the lower level of the engine room for each plant’s existing main power cable and control voltage cables. Install new cables from the junction box up to the new plant’s connection box through new deck kick pipes. Power cable is to be LSTSGU-200. The control cables are to be LSTSGU-4. Connect the existing power and control cables to the new plants. Install one each control cable from each plant’s control panel to the water regulating valve operator.
7.9. Reinstall all structure and plate in way of access cut(s) to the satisfaction of the attending ABS Surveyor. At a minimum, ABS and Port Engineer to witness fit up, back gouge, final weld, and vacuum box testing. Accomplish DPT of final welds.
7.9.1. Restore freeboard paint in way of access cut(s). The coating system to be applied is:
7.9.1.1. Two each coats International 300V, 4 mils DFT.
7.9.1.2. Three each coats Interthane 990 White, 3.0 mils DFT.

7.10. Insulate the condenser and cooler heads with closed cell insulation.
Wrap with cloth.
7.11. Provide the services of a factory authorized Marine Carrier technician to accomplish the following:
7.11.1. Verify the refrigerant charge in each plant. Inspect new plants for leaks.
7.11.2. Make all control cable terminations and verify power
connections prior to energizing the plants.
7.11.3. Accomplish commissioning/set up of each plant’s parameters and verify proper plant operation.
