About this file
This file is an architectural design document for a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center renovation project located in Cincinnati, Ohio. The project involves completely renovating approximately 11,000 square feet on the 2nd floor of the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), including comprehensive demolition and reconstruction of medical spaces. The renovation will create new patient rooms, offices, conference rooms, staff lounges, locker rooms, clean supply rooms, a pharmacy office, work areas, and a Healthcare Unit (HUC) station, with a specific focus on installing a new HEPA pandemic filtration system that provides negative pressure capabilities for patient rooms to meet pandemic preparedness standards.
The comprehensive renovation includes detailed architectural plans for structural modifications, medical gas and plumbing systems, electrical infrastructure, and mechanical systems. The project scope encompasses not just the 2nd floor area, but also requires coordinating plumbing and HVAC connections above and below the construction zone, as well as rooftop work to integrate new and existing air handling equipment. The design documents specify precise technical requirements for wall types, floor finishes, medical equipment placement, patient room configurations, and specialized systems like patient lift supports and medical gas outlets, with a targeted completion date of October 17, 2025.
