Correspondence Processing
Incoming Correspondence Outgoing documents from the USPTO are entered into PALM through the Publication Case Action link
Incoming Correspondence Enter the:
Transaction code. If unknown, click the drop-down arrow in the <NONE> field to search available codes.
Mailroom Date.
Application Number, must be entered twice.
If applicable, fill out the Extension of Time box and/or the Examiner information box.
For an extension of time, choose the length of time granted from the drop-down list.
Enter the Certificate of Mail Date, use MMDDYY format.
Click Ok.
Outgoing Correspondence Incoming documents from the Applicant/Attorney are entered into PALM through the Incoming Correspondence link.
To enter the Office Action into PALM, in PALM Resource Center open the Publications folder and click the Publications link.
Outgoing Correspondence Case Actions (continued) Use the arrow next to the Transaction field to expand the menu to look up the PALM Transaction Code if unknown.
Transactions will appear in the transaction log after the OK button has been clicked.
If a transaction was entered in error, it can be highlighted and deleted from the log up until the Publication Case Action window is closed.
Once the window has been closed, a troubleshooter will need to be contacted to make corrections.
