About this file
This is a Bid Bond Template document issued by the City of St. George for the Middleton Wash Trail Construction project (Inquiry No. 26-255). The project encompasses construction of a comprehensive trail system including traffic control, removals, earthwork, storm drain installation, asphalt paving, concrete flatwork, trail safety rail, retaining walls, signage, a pedestrian bridge, and related work items. All bidders must submit a bid bond in the amount of 5% of their bid as a condition of participation. The bid bond must name the City of St. George as the obligee and be issued by a surety company licensed to conduct business in the State of Utah on a bond form acceptable to the City. The form was approved by Legal in May 2024.
The template establishes that bid bonds serve to secure bidder performance and ensure contract execution if a bid is accepted. Bidders who are selected must execute a contract in the specified form and furnish a 100% performance and labor and materials bond to cover faithful performance and payment to all laborers and material suppliers. The City of St. George reserves the right to reject any or all submissions or waive any formality or technicality in any proposal. Surety companies executing bonds must appear on the U.S. Treasury Department's most current list (Circular 570 as amended) and be authorized to transact business in Utah.
