RFI Questions and Answers #7-17
7. Please provide specifications for doors and frames for the door locations that require doors and frames to be replaced.
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Door ID 3C.3-1, in the Clinics area, are warped, and need to be replaced with 16 gauge, hollow metal doors, with a 90 min fire rating. The doors are 41 ¾ inches wide, and 83 5/8 inches tall.
8. Not all door locations were able to be inspected during the site visit. Where Recommended Action states to “Replace doors and frames (plural) with a door and frame (singular) . . .”. Can you provide door and frame sizes for these locations?
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: There are a number of doors that state, “Replace doors and frames.” with doors and frame that have the proper fire rating. Using Door ID 3A.1-26 as an example. These doors and frames are missing the fire rating labels. They need to be re-certified, and new fire rating labels.
9. Door ID 4BB.2-1 on 2nd Floor (Acute Psych Corridor) Recommended Action: Install double doors to reduce dead-end corridor to allowable limit. Verify this corridor is 2 hour rated. If not, please provide fire rating.
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: According to our Safety Department, we are not required to have double doors at this location because of the occupancy size. This area is only required to have a single door, with panic hardware.
10. Door ID 3A.5-2 on 1st Floor (VA Police Corridor) Recommended Action: Install Listed product to reduce clearance under the door not to exceed ¾”. What is the “listed product”?
Please provide a spec.
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: This door was re-inspected and has the proper clearance.
No action is required.
11. Please provide sign spec for “No Exit” sign required for Door 4X.7-3. Or are we to match an existing sign for Service Bay doors?
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: This discrepancy was corrected with the Exit Sign project.
No action is required.
12. Door ID 3C.3-1 on 3rd Floor Recommended Action: Replace the door. Please provide door size/spec and required fire rating.
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: See #7
13. Where Recommended Action states “Door assembly in fire barrier does not have the minimum required rating”. Please provide the minimum required rating for these locations.
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: On the discrepancies list, each line item has a corrective action. The required fire rating is listed for each door.

14. Please provide a list of doors that are not able to be worked on during regular business hours? Provide the hours these doors can be worked on.
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Contractors are allowed to work on all doors during normal working hours from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
15. Door ID 4BB.2-1 on 2nd Floor (Acute Psych Corridor) Recommended Action: Install double doors to reduce dead-end corridor to allowable limit. Is door to be propped open with a mag release in the event of fire? Or is door to be secured with an access control for entry?
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: See #9
16. Per the RFP “All doors will be clearly labeled as certified or not certified. Certifications will be provided” Who will be providing the certifications? Is there a specific department that we will be contacting?
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: It is the contractors’ responsibility to find a company that will certify the doors that need it, and replace missing fire labels for the door and door frame.
17. To confirm, the Bid Package should only contain the SF1442 and Bond? Did you require the
Reps and Certs?
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: The Reps and Certs are not required for the Bid Package submission. The Government is able to access Reps and Certs of a bidder at SAM.GOV. The Bid package requirements are listed on p. 6-7 of the solicitation. The Bid package requirements from the solicitation are listed in a. and b.:
a. Standard Form 1442. (Box 14-20 completed and signed acknowledging all amendments; do not fill in anything in “Award” section, from box 21 down). All Bidders are to fully complete blocks 14 through 20 of SF 1442, unsigned bids will be rejected.
b. Bid Guarantee/Bond (SF24).
