Specification 07 53 23-6 2.4 EPDM Roofing Membrane. It is listed as a fabric backed membrane however the ASTM number is pointing us to a reinforced EPDM. Can you please specify if they are wanting a fabric backed EPDM or a reinforced membrane?

Answer The existing membrane on BLDG 23 is non-reinforced white EPDM. Non reinforced EPDM is acceptable. Contractor to provide an EPDM Type I - non reinforced, White in 60 mils.

RFI-02

Specification 07 53 23-6 2.4 . It is referencing Fire Resistant membrane. Firestone does not manufacturer a reinforced white Fire Resistant Membrane. Please clarify if this is a requirement.

Answer Fire Resistant Membrane is required, but the reinforced membrane is not. Contractor to provide a Class A material as specified but does not need to be a Reinforced Membrane. See RFI 1 above. This is contrary to what was stated in the pre-bid conference today. This RFI answer supersedes that statement.

RFI-03

Details on sheet A1.1 denote a range of different roof construction types. What is the roof assemble for Bldg 23.

Answer Building 23 is metal decking over steel. Not a composite or concrete slab roof.

RFI-04

Is Bldg 23 a partial roof tear off or full tear off down to deck.

Answer Building 23 is a full tear off down to existing metal deck. The Roof structure does not slope. New tamper insulation used, see RFI-05 below.

6.1 What is the basis of design for this roof?

Answer There is no manufactured basis of design. This is an open manufacture bid. See Drawings and Specifications as clarified below in this Addendum No. 2.

6.2 Please advise if we are to include the following:

1. Based on Addendum #2 response it would appear a 60 mil fully adhered white EPDM membrane is required?

Answer Yes, a 60 mil fully adhered white EPDM membrane is specified.

1. A substrate board on the metal deck (not shown in details)?

Answer A substrate board is not required on the metal decking, if the GC elects to provide a substrate board for job site safety use as specified. But again not required.

RFI-06 (6.2 Continued)

1. A vapor barrier on the substrate board (not shown in details)? If so, do we included the poly as referenced in the roof spec or the 40 mil SA vapor barrier as manufactured by roof manufacturer’s?

Answer Use a 40 mil SA vapor barrier as manufactured by roof manufacturer. Fully adhered.

1. The standard 20 psi poly iso roof insulation?

Answer The units: fiberglass and laminated glass panels, sit on new/modified bent plates but on existing framing.

h) Provide confirmation that existing skylight curb and supporting structure are of sufficient size and design to support new skylight system.

Answer See RFI 7.19 and 7.20 above. The existing structure has been evaluated by a structural engineer and confirmed that the existing over framing can accommodate the new loads. The new bent plate and stiffening of the existing bent plate that cannot be removed is being replaced or modified to accommodate the new point loaded.

i) Verify that skylight cap / cover system to be screw down not snap on type per paragraph 2.3.E , F and G. this is skylight mfgr standard Answer Screw down is acceptable.

j) Paragraph 2.4 Metal Finishes calls for a 3-coat HP Finish AAMA 2605. Per Kalwall, their finish is a 2-coat finish and is formulated per AAMA 2605 criteria. They indicate that it exceeds the requirements for AAMA 2604. They are currently in testing for compliance to meet AAMA 2605. Provide confirmation that their coat application and design is acceptable?

Answer 2-coat finish as formulated per AAMA 2605 criteria is acceptable.

7.22 Per specification / Glazing Section 088000

a) Paragraph 1.3.B.3 and Paragraph 1.4.C call out bullet resistant glass or plastic glazing assemblies. Is this correct?

Answer The glass does not need to bullet resistant, needs to be laminated for fall protection and safety to prevent falling glass if broken.

b) Paragraph 1.4.D – Windborne Debris Impact Resistance – This is usually for Florida and East Coast where hurricane issues exist. Is this needed in Columbia MO?

Answer The glass does not need to meet windborne debris impact, needs to be laminated for fall protection and safety to prevent falling glass if broken.

c) Section 2.5 Plastic Glazing – Is this Insulated Translucent Fiberglass Panels? Does this match the existing skylight system?

d) Section 2.11 – Calls for Insulating Plastic Sheets. Are these Insulated Translucent Fiberglass Panels? Does this match the existing skylight system?
