1. RFI 39 on A00005 Refer to Details 1, 2, 3 & 4 / Sheet CS-191: What is the detail for binder with geotextile? Is the binder being placed over a layer of geotextile placed on the gravel base? Answer: Geotextile fabric shall be placed on the gravel base. The binder course shall be placed over the layer of geotextile.” That said; Paving directly onto geofabric is highly unusual. Please provide a specification for the fabric and installation guidance and methods for this unique application.

***Acela updated response to RFI 39. The previous response was listed incorrectly. The geotextile fabric shall be placed below the stone subbase. The previous response stated that the fabric should be placed on top of the subbase, this is incorrect. The correct response is “THE GEOTEXTILE FABRIC SHALL BE PLACED BELOW THE GRAVEL BASE”.
