About this opportunity
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) is requesting bids on seventeen electric forklifts to replace existing equipment supporting Metro's bus and rail operations under IFB No. DR140108(2), with bids due September 15, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. and a virtual pre-bid conference held on August 24, 2026. Pre-qualification is required for all firms not exempted from the process if their bid exceeds $500,000 for non-construction contracts; both pre-qualification applications and bids are due simultaneously on September 15. No Small Business Enterprise (SBE) subcontracting goal has been established, though bidders identifying SBE/Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) subcontracting opportunities during performance are expected to provide maximum opportunities to such firms.
The scope consists of twelve walk-behind stacker forklifts (Hyster W25ZC or approved equals, 2,000 lbs. minimum capacity), one walkie reach forklift, and four stand-on reach forklifts (Hyster N40ZRS3, Raymond R40TT 110-250, Yale NR40AE, or approved equals, 4,000 lbs. minimum capacity at 24-inch load center). All equipment must be new, latest factory model year, electric-powered with lithium-ion batteries (minimum 6-hour capacity), and comply with ANSI, FRA, AQMD, ARB, EPA Tier 4, and OSHA standards. Comprehensive warranty coverage is mandated: non-wearable components for a minimum of twelve months/2,000 hours or manufacturer's standard (whichever is greater); powertrain for thirty-six months/6,000 hours; frame for sixty months/10,000 hours; and batteries for forty-eight months. Successful bidders must provide two complete sets of operator manuals, maintenance/parts manuals, and electrical schematics; warranty work must be performed at local dealerships.
Contract performance shall be completed no later than April 1, 2027. The contract is firm fixed price with zero option days. Delivery is required within 150 days from the contract effective date of July 23, 2026, Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at LACMTA Division 10, 742 North Mission Road, Los Angeles, CA 90033. Payment terms are Net 30. Award will be made to the lowest-priced responsive and responsible bidder. Questions were due September 1, 2026, with clarifications provided September 4, 2026. Fourteen companies registered for the planholder list as of August 21. The contract is funded with state and local funds and is not subject to federal prevailing wage requirements.
