About this opportunity

The City of Long Beach Department of Public Works is requesting bids for furnishing and installing new air conditioning systems at Posh Pets Animal Rescue, 770 Park Place, Long Beach, New York, with bids due July 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. under Addendum No. 1 (original due date July 23 extended). A 20% Minority/Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) contracting goal applies.

The scope encompasses two phases: installation of two packaged rooftop air handling units (AHU-1 and AHU-2), a ceiling-mounted exhaust fan (EF-1), new sheet metal ductwork, supply and return air distribution systems with volume dampers, diffusers, and grilles throughout the building; and removal of existing split units, wall-mounted AC equipment, outdoor condensing units, and associated ductwork per demolition drawings. Control systems require Venstar programmable Wi-Fi thermostats (CT414 model or approved equal) with remote sensors for each unit, configured for 24/7 operation with specific occupied and unoccupied setpoints. Testing, adjusting, and balancing must be performed by an AABC or NEBB certified contractor with independent verification of approximately 25% of measurements. The contractor must provide three sets of pleated disposable filters and a one-year warranty on all parts and labor from final acceptance. Electrical scope includes new 120/208V, three-phase, 200-ampere overhead service installation coordinated with PSEG-LI, including grounding electrode conductor per National Electrical Code. All work must comply with the 2020 Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York State and ASHRAE 90.1-2016, with building mechanical system commissioning mandated per code. New York State prevailing wage rates apply. Site visits are available by contacting Steve Friedman at sfriedman@longbeachny.gov. Bidders must submit a separate letter confirming all RFI responses (RFI #1 through #8) are included in their bid cost. A $50 administration fee is required to submit. Premier Mechanical and Carrier hold previous identical or substantially similar contracts. Physical bid submission only; electronic bids will not be accepted.
