About this file

This is a Request for Information (RFI) document issued by the City of Long Beach Department of Public Works regarding an HVAC upgrade project at Posh Pets, located at 770 Park Place in Long Beach, New York. The project involves furnishing and installing new air conditioning systems in full, with a second phase dedicated to removing existing split units as shown on demolition drawings. The document addresses eight clarifications from bidders, establishing that mechanical work is the prime contract, the exhaust fan is a replacement unit, and contractors are responsible for removing all electrical components associated with removed HVAC equipment. All new ductwork within the building is to be installed below the ceiling. Site visits are available by contacting Steve Friedman at sfriedman@longbeachny.gov. The original bid due date was extended to July 30, 2026, no later than 11:00 a.m., with submissions directed to the Department of Public Works. Electronic bids will not be accepted.

Bidders must submit a separate letter on company letterhead confirming that all eight RFI responses are included in their bid cost. The project has a Minority/Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) contracting goal of 20.00%. Previous businesses awarded identical or substantially similar procurement contracts within the past five years include Premier Mechanical and Carrier. No specific funding amounts or contract term information is provided in this RFI document.

Question:

Is this a single contract project or is the mechanical and electrical separate?

Response: Mechanical is prime

There is a new exhaust fan shown on mechanical drawing and schedules but not shown on electricals, I assume we will have to connect it but what will control it?

Response: fan is a replacement of what is currently in place

There is also a lot of HVAC equipment being removed, are we responsible for removing all the electrical for it?

Response: yes

Also, if it is possible to visit site again, I had a prior appointment and could not make it.

Response: Yes, contact Steve Friedman sfriedman@longbeachny.gov

Question: respectfully request an extension of due date for bid.

Response: Due date extended to July 30, 2026, no later than 11:00 a.m. to the Department of

Public works. No electronic bids will be accepted.

The mechanical new work plan M-102 shows ductwork and air outlets routed through multiple existing rooms/areas; however, the bid documents do not clearly indicate whether these areas are intended to have open/exposed ceilings or for the ceilings to be removed for the ductwork install and replaced in kind after. Based on existing field conditions, ceilings appear to exist in areas where new ductwork and air outlets are shown. For example, the supply register shown in the

Office on M-102 does not appear feasible as drawn with the existing ceiling condition. If the ductwork is intended to be installed above the existing ceiling, the supply register would need to turn down through the ceiling. Please confirm the intended ceiling condition and whether supply/return grilles are to be installed in the ceilings. If ceiling-mounted grilles/registers are required, please provide any revised details and/or locations required.

Response: All of the new ductwork within the building is expected to be installed be ow the ceiling.

Bidders: With your bids, submit separate letter on your company letterhead that states all of the RFI responses include #1 through #8 relative to the work involved, is included in your cost.
