About this opportunity
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) is requesting bids for plumbing vacuum system repair and maintenance services at Union Station West Portal under IFB No. OP143876, with bids due September 24, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. and a pre-bid conference on August 26, 2026 and worksite visit on August 27, 2026.
The scope encompasses preventive maintenance, routine inspections, repairs, and emergency response services for the AcornVac vacuum plumbing system and associated water softener system serving 27 stalls, 7 urinals, and 3 mop sinks at Union Station (800 N. Alameda Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012). Services must be performed during regular business hours (6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) and evening hours (11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.) Monday through Friday, with 24/7 emergency response required within one hour of notification. Quarterly preventive maintenance includes leak rate checks, pressure and amperage recording, filter replacements, hose and component inspections, tank cleaning, and water softener maintenance. Semi-annual maintenance requires additional inspections including pump volute removal and impeller inspection. All technicians must hold current AcornVac factory training certification and possess a C-36 Plumbing license. The contractor must provide all labor, tools, consumables, parts inventory, and salt supply, with daily debris removal from Metro property.
The contract term is three years with two optional one-year renewal periods exercisable at LACMTA's sole discretion. Award will be made to the lowest-priced responsive and responsible bidder on a firm fixed unit rate basis. Bidders must be registered with the California Department of Industrial Relations; bids exceeding $500,000 for non-construction contracts require pre-qualification with LACMTA. No specific SBE/DVBE subcontracting goal was recommended, though bidders are expected to afford maximum opportunities to SBE and DVBE firms where subcontracting opportunities arise. Questions are due September 2, 2026, with LACMTA responses by September 10, 2026. Bidders must submit bid bonds, certified checks, or cashier's checks in an amount not less than ten percent of the total bid price.
