About this opportunity

The National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, Liver Diseases Branch intends to award a sole-source purchase order for a MorphoLens 6 slide scanner, with responses due June 5, 2026. The procurement is set aside for total small business and is justified under FAR 6.302-1, citing Morphle Labs Inc. as the only known responsible source; however, small businesses including 8(a) firms, service-disabled veteran-owned, HUBZone, small disadvantaged, veteran-owned, and women-owned small businesses may submit written capability statements demonstrating their ability to perform.

The scanner must digitize histology slides from mouse tissues used in preclinical disease models affecting the liver, gut, and adipose tissue, with a minimum loading capacity of six slides for efficient batch processing and high-resolution imaging. Performance requirements include support for detailed histological evaluation of disease progression, tissue morphology, and treatment response.

The Government retains sole discretion to compete the award based on responses received. Written capability statements must be submitted via email to david.shen@nih.gov no later than 11:00 p.m. EDT on June 5, 2026. Award is anticipated approximately ten days after the notice date unless the Government determines another vendor can meet the requirement. No anticipated award value or period of performance is stated.
