About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health Office of Logistics and Acquisition Operations has issued a Special Notice for DNA and RNA Extraction services. This opportunity, posted on March 23, 2026, solicits contractors with specialized capabilities in extracting DNA and RNA from mouse biological samples. The work falls under the Research and Development in Biotechnology sector (NAICS 541714) and is classified as professional support services. The contracting office is seeking vendors who can perform custom extractions while maintaining strict continuity with previously established laboratory protocols and quality standards. No small business set-aside is being used for this opportunity, meaning all qualified contractors are eligible to compete.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to procure DNA and RNA extraction services that are scientifically compatible with existing datasets derived from prior analysis work. The contractor must be capable of extracting DNA from mouse whole blood white cell pellets and extracting both DNA and RNA from multiple mouse organs including lung, spleen, heart, kidney, brain, and liver, with Agilent RNA quality control validation. The deadline for submission is March 30, 2026, providing a one-week response window. The critical requirement is that the contractor must use identical extraction chemistry, instrumentation, workflow, and quality control thresholds to the original extraction methodology, as any deviations would introduce batch effects that cannot be computationally corrected and would compromise the scientific validity of combined datasets. Eligibility is open to any qualified contractor with demonstrated expertise in nucleic acid extraction and rodent sample processing capabilities.
Notice text
CUSTOM DNA Extraction from mouse whole blood (white cell pellets)
CUSTOM DNA and RNA Extraction from mouse organs (lung, spleen, heart, kidney, brain, liver) + Agilent RNA QC
would introduce unavoidable differences in
extraction chemistry, instrumentation, workflow, and QC thresholds, generating batch
effects that would distort methylation signatures, gene expression profiles, and
sequencing quality. These discrepancies cannot be corrected computationally and would
render the new data scientifically incompatible with the previously generated dataset,
undermining the validity of the combined analysis and jeopardizing both the submitted
manuscript and the continuation study
