About this file

This federal solicitation seeks replacement of HVAC systems at the DeConcini Hill facility. The Army Contracting Command within the Department of the Army Materiel Command is soliciting proposals to replace existing MarvAir AVPA48ACA HVAC units with new systems capable of low-ambient control down to 20 degrees Fahrenheit. The site experiences ambient temperatures below 30 degrees Fahrenheit from December through March, with daytime highs ranging from 35 to 75 degrees over that period. Offerors should be able to provide HVAC systems that can adequately condition the radio vault area to below 75 degrees inside even when temperatures outside are freezing. The closing date for proposals was not included in this document.

Text version

Q: Do these systems have Low-Ambient controls?

A: Yes, the current MarvAir AVPA48ACA HVAC units have low-ambient control to 20°F using R-410A refrigerant.

Ambient temperatures at the site can occasionally drop below 20°F and regularly drop below 30°F during the months of December through March. Daytime temperatures for the same period can range from 35° to 75°F. I have observed the radio vault HVAC system engage about once every 15 to 20 minutes when it was 42°F just outside the door to keep the vault below 75°F inside. The HVAC will occasionally have to activate even when weather is freezing outside the repeater enclosure.

Attached is the product specification sheet for the current MarvAir units installed at the site.
