SECTION 412213.19 - JIB CRANES
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.
1.2 SUMMARY
A. This Section includes the following jib cranes and hoists:
1. #2H3, 1,000 lb capacity.
2. #3H5, 5-ton capacity.
3. #3H6, 3.5 ton capacity.
1.3 SUBMITTALS
A. Shop drawings prepared and sealed by a professional engineer registered in the State of Ohio.
B. Structural/mechanical/electrical calculations prepared and sealed by a professional engineer registered in the State of Ohio.
C. Product Catalog Data.
D. Design Data.
E. Test Reports.
F. Operation and Maintenance Manuals.
1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Jib cranes and trolleys shall comply with:
1. ASME B30.11 – Monorails and Underhung Cranes.
B. Hoists shall comply with:
1. ASME B30.16 – Overhead Hoists (Underhung).
2. ASME HST-4 – Performance Standard for Overhead Electric Wire Rope Hoists.

C. Design to comply with AISC S329 - Manual of Steel Construction - Allowable Stress Design Specifications.
D. Steel fabrication shall be free of kinks and sharp bends. Shear and chip neatly and accurately. Provide square/true corners. Straightening is only permitted if it will not change material properties or cause fabrications scars.
E. Flame Cutting: May be used so long as surfaces are sufficiently ground or machined to remove slag, objectionable notches, and all evidence of cooling checks.
F. Welding in accordance with AWS D14.1, done by AWS Certified Welders.
1.5 SITE CONDITIONS
A. Reference Structural Drawings for Seismic Risk Zone.
B. Electric power will be supplied as 480 VAC, 3 Phase.
C. Items specified in this Section will not be located or operated in areas classified as hazardous areas.
1.6 WARRANTY
A. Crane shall have 5-year manufacturer’s warranty against failure except those due to overloading or other improper operation.
B. Hoist shall have manufacturer’s lifetime warranty.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 MANUFACTURER
A. Subject to compliance with the stated requirements, unit as described shall be as manufactured by:
1. General Conveyor Inc., Corona, CA.
2. Gorbel, Inc., Fishers, NY.
3. Abell-Howe, Woodridge, IL.
2.2 JIB CRANES
A. Jib beam lengths and minimum hook height shall be as indicated on equipment schedules.

B. The jib framework shall be free standing with floor anchors.
C. Beam and trolley movements shall be motorized on 3H5 and 3H6. Beam and trolley movements shall be manual on 2H3.
D. Cranes to be complete systems including base plates, anchor bolts and anchors, framework, beams, trolleys, drives, electrification systems, hoists, and electrical panels.
E. Trolley and rotation on 3H5 and 3H6 shall be electrically powered.
F. Hoist shall have variable frequency drive and mechanical load brake capable of holding rated load stationary for extended periods of time.
G. Cranes shall be pendant controlled.
H. Hoist shall comply with ASME HST 4 – Duty Class H3.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 SHOP ASSEMBLY
A. Shop assemble the cranes to the largest possible extent.
3.2 SITE INSTALLATION
A. Erect the cranes within 30 days of the units arriving on-site.
B. Crane supplier shall furnish all personnel and supervisory services necessary to install and make fully functional each crane and monorail hoist and the pendant control system.
C. Testing By Crane Supplier:
1. Load Tests – Static Loads at 125% of rated capacity, including all apparatus, weights, measuring devices, etc. shall provided by the crane contractor who shall also perform specified load tests to obtain necessary certification.
Dynamic load tests at 50, 100 and 125% will also be required as well as Load Brake and Loss of Hoist Power tests. A minimum of 5 cycles per test may be required.
