About this file

This document is a solicitation for a maintenance dredging contract for the Wilmington Harbor Anchorage Basin and Military Ocean Terminal, Sunny Point (MOTSU) in North Carolina. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District requires annual maintenance dredging of the Cape Fear River to maintain commercial ship traffic to the Wilmington Port. The work consists of dredging the Wilmington Harbor Anchorage Basin and various channels around the MOTSU, with an estimated 600,000 to 800,000 cubic yards of material to be removed from the Anchorage Basin and 500,000 to 700,000 cubic yards from the MOTSU channels. Mechanical dredges (clamshell, dragline or dipper) are allowed for the Anchorage Basin work, while both mechanical and cutter suction pipeline dredges can be used for the MOTSU channels during the specified environmental window of October 1 to June 30. The dredged material is to be disposed of at the Wilmington Harbor Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site. No ocean certified dredge is required, but an ocean certified scow is mandatory.
