200 Block and Chapel Roof Replacements

Camp Dawson Kingwood, WV

Invitation for Bid (Questions) and Answers

1. 23 July 18 How will sheathing be handled on this project?

Sheathing will be replaced in whole 4’x8’ sheets at time. Contractor will bid a per sheet cost on the proposal.

When a roof is stripped, a West Virginia Army National Guard (WVARNG) representative will mark sheets to be replaced. Contractors will be compensated via change order at completion of work.

2. 23 July 18 On Building 103, the Chapel how is the steeple to be addressed?

The WVARNG does not dictate means and methods; however would recommend using flashing around the steeple.

3. 23 July 18 On Building 103, the Chapel, are ice guards required? Yes, every 3’

4. 23 July 18 On row buildings (200 block) are hidden fasteners for gutters permitted? Hidden fasteners are permitted.

5. 23 July 18 On row buildings (200 block) will the freeze board be wrapped with metal?

Yes the freeze boards are to be re-wrapped with metal matching the gutters, fascia, and gutters.

6. 23 July 18 Will plastic splash bock be replaced in this contract?

No splash blocks are not included in this contract.

7. 23 July 18 Please clarify the T1-11 replacement.

The T1-11 replacement only pertains to building numbers 242 and 244 and only includes the gable area.

8. 30July 18

The contractor is responsible for installing new 5/8” T1-11 is gables.

The question is; are we only replacing the T1-11 in the gables on buildings 242 and 244?

There is a lot of T1-11 on Buildings 204,205,206,207,208,209,210,211 but there is none in the gable.

They mentioned in the meeting that if a spec was in the summary and/or in the scope that we would do both, but it’s not exactly clear if we are to bid the T1-11 on the buildings if it’s not in a gable.

9. 30July 18

There is no specs on type of materials for soffit and fascia.

We are planning to bid vinyl soffit .042mil and .019mil aluminum fascia, will this be okay?

Both fascia and soffit will be aluminum.

Aluminum shall be 0.0185 minimum in thickness. Contractor to provide color samples to the WVARNG prior to ordering.

There is no spec on Gutter size or thickness.

We are planning to bid 5” gutters at .024mil, again unless there is different requirement.

Gutters and downspouts are to be aluminum.

Gutters are to be continuous in type and 5” or 6” are both acceptable sizes. The minimum aluminum gutter material thickness shall be

0.032. Contractor to provide a color samples to

the WVARNG prior to ordering.

11. 30 July 18

During the site visit it was mentioned that we were to paint the ventilation fans on buildings 242 and 244 but there is nothing in the specs on it. Will an addendum be released to clarify this?

The ventilation fans on building 244 and the remaining ventilation fans on building 242 are to be lightly sanded are painted with an exterior paint; Aluminum or silver in color. Both spray and brush painting is acceptable.
