WIANG Volk Field B504 HEF Removal

1) Static Pressure is the pressure at the hydrant with the hydrant closed.

2) Residual Pressure is the pressure at the hydrant with the hydrant flowing. If the flowing hydrant is not the same hydrant as the static pressure hydrant, the flowing hydrant data must be corrected to reflect the friction loss between the two hydrants.

3) Residual Flow is the flowrate at the hydrant when it is open.

6) Calculated pitot pressure can be used to validate measured pitot pressure and other data. Typical flow tests are based on fitting flow coefficient of 0.88, and a 2.5" orifice. See Fire Prot Hdbk, 18th ed, p 6-81. FM Global requires c=0.80

4) The K value can be used in the formula Q=K*∆H^.54 to model the pipeline flow.

5) The Residual flow at 10 or 20 PSIG is the maximum GPM that a pumper truck could draw from the hydrant. Fire Chief may allow a lower minimum PSIG. The minimum PSIG is necessary to keep the pump from cavitating. 20 PSIG is generally used for FM Global
