PART 1 GENERAL
1.1 GENERAL
This section contains additional information related to Bid Option Item #0006: All work for construction of Optional Wing. This bid option includes all construction for that part of Zone C between grids F/15.2 and M/19 as shown on the drawings. If this bid option is awarded, some of the construction shown on the base bid drawings changes. This generally includes work between column grids F/15.9 and G/19, but some work extends into other areas.
1.2 SHEET TITLES AND NUMBERS
All drawing sheets showing new or reconfigured spaces and all other work for the Optional Wing bid option include "- BID OPTION" in the title, and have have a suffix "x" added to the sheet number. For example sheet number "S-101 OVERALL FOUNDATION PLAN" showing all work under the base bid precedes sheet "S-101x OVERALL FOUNDATION PLAN - BID OPTION" which shows new and changed work under the bid option.
Schedule sheets for the bid option generally show only ADDITIONAL work, unless noted otherwise in the remarks column; typically, these items are either relocated or deleted. Details sheets for this bid option similarly only show additional bid option work and do not include base bid work.
1.3 BID SCHEDULE ADJUSTMENT
If Option Item #0006 is executed, some work shown under the Base Items (especially between column grids F/16 and G/19) is not required. Deduct the cost of work under Base Bid Items #0001 (base building) and #0002 (site work) that is not required from your line-item bid for Option Item #0006, so the price entered reflects the net increase, if Option Item #0006 is executed, over and above the unit price reflected in Base Items #0001 and #0002.
1.4 SEQUENCING AND SCHEDULING
Refer to Section 00 73 00 SPECIAL CLAUSES, Paragraph COMMENCEMENT, PROSECUTION, AND COMPLETION OF WORK (FAR 52.211-10) and Paragraph OPTION FOR INCREASED QUANTITY for information.
1.5 SUBMITTALS
Preconstruction submittals and other items submitted under Base Bid Items #0001 and #0002 may need to be revised and resubmitted to reflect changes in work if Bid Option #0006 is executed. These items may include:
> Site Work > Shop Drawings > Project Schedule
SECTION 01 23 00 Page 2
> Submittal Register > LEED Checklists > Action Plans (Safety Plan, Lift Plan, Construction Site Plan, Traffic Control Plan, Waste Management Plan, Environmental Protection Plan, Dirt & Dust Control Plan, Erosion & Sediment Control Plan, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan, etc.)
> Quality Control Plan > Warranty Management Plan > Permits
1.6 DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC DETAILS
1.6.1 Geotechnical
Include all work associated with the bid option, whether it is additive or deductive from either Base Bid Item #0001 or Base Bid Item #0002.
1.6.2 Structural
The foundation on grid line F between grid lines 16 and 19 will mirror the foundation shown on base bid on grid line F between grid lines 1 and 4. In addition, the foundation to the plan north of grid line F between grid lines 15 and 19 will mirror the foundations between grid lines 1 and 5.
Zone B superstructure for the Bid Option will be the same as the base bid except that the stair structure shown between grid lines 16 and 19 north of grid line F will not be constructed in that position for Bid Option. The stair structure will be part of the Optional Wing.
1.6.3 Architectural
Under the Bid Option, Stair #3 and first floor Storage Room #C130 are relocated to the north end of the Optional Wing. Eleven dorms rooms have been added per floor.
NOTE: Life Safety drawings depict the building including the Optional Wing as this is the more restrictive condition.
1.6.4 Mechanical
If the bid option is awarded, work on BID OPTION sheets governs work shown on the base bid sheets in the event of conflicts between base and optional work shown. The BID OPTION sheets show no work required under the base bid.
Equipment sizes are not changed between the base bid and the bid option.
Equipment counts for the base bid are shown on the equipment schedules on sheet M-601. Additional equipment required for the bid option is shown on the schedule on M-601x. The unit heater EUH-2 located in the base bid stair #3 is relocated to the new stairwell location. Duct routing for the bid option connects directly to the ductwork layout in the base bid.
There is no unique mechanical equipment located in the optional wing. The optional wing only increases the total quantity of packaged terminal heat pumps and bathroom exhaust fans. Therefore, the only additional commissioning effort required for the optional wing is to include the optional wing equipment in the sample testing.
1.6.5 Electrical
Central electrical service under the base bid is sized for the bid option.
SECTION 01 23 00 Page 3
Circuits designated with an "X -" prefix in the Panel Schedules E-603 through E-631 are spares only under the base bid.
1.6.6 Plumbing
Routing of the floor drain piping beneath the east Mechanical Rooms (all three levels) changes depending on whether or not the bid option is awarded. The ground floor cleanout location also changes with the bid option. See P-103 and P-103x, P-106 and P-106x, P-109 and P-109x.
1.6.7 Telecommunications
CATV home runs with an "X -" prefix in the CATV Block Riser Diagram are part of the Bid Option for the Optional Wing.
