About this file
This document outlines a federal contract opportunity for a water blast roadwheel denuding system. The Red River Army Depot Rubber Products Branch requires a new denuding system capable of removing up to 1 inch of bonded rubber from 25-inch by 6-inch Abraham's roadwheels and 24-inch by 3.75-inch Bradley Fighting Vehicle System and Multiple Launch Rocket System roadwheels fully automatically or manually. The system must utilize a high-intensity water blast process to remove the rubber down to bare metal without damaging the metal wheels. It must include a material handling six axis robotic arm, wheel fixtures, an enclosed stainless steel cabinet to contain the water and rubber debris, and a wash down system to clean the interior. Each cycle is required to complete processing and removal of a wheel in no more than 6 minutes. The process water must be filtered to 5-10 micron particles before draining. Large rubber debris will be collected separately. The overall system size cannot exceed 25 feet wide by 40 feet long. The soliciting agency is the Department of the Army Materiel Command TACOM Life Cycle Management Command.
