About this file
This PowerPoint presentation is an overview of DLA Distribution Operations for May 2025, focusing on production management within a Warehouse Management System (WMS) environment. The presentation highlights DLA Distribution's mission to provide agile, global storage and distribution services to support the Warfighter, with key priorities including network optimization, modernization, and achieving an unmodified financial opinion by FY28. The organization manages 445 facilities across 20 states and 7 countries, handling 6.7 million orders totaling 1.2 billion pounds delivered to 46,000 customers in 94 countries.
The presentation emphasizes a data-driven approach to production management, introducing a three-tiered production meeting structure (Micro, Macro, and Mega levels) and utilizing Qlik data visualization tools for real-time performance tracking. Key technological initiatives include implementing a WMS Labor Management Module in SAP, developing robust production management tools, and leveraging AI for future improvements. The document outlines DLA Distribution's core capabilities, including wholesale and retail material storage, inventory management, transportation planning, and contingency logistics operations, with a workforce of 6,310 civilian employees, 290 military personnel, and 1,750 contractors.

Qlik Tool DLA’s data visualization and Business Intelligence (BI) tool which accesses multiple databases to present information in near real time Data refreshes hourly Distribution currently has 25+ Application and growing
Benefits of using Qlik to Manage Warehouse Production Can create applications consistent with leadership’s vision to manage through data Applications are developed and maintained by DLA Distribution Reporting standardization and automation across the enterprise Real-time data driven discussions Applications scaled for access on mobile devices … smart phones, tablets Applications refreshed as needed Managing by Data via “Qlik” Tool
Production Meetings – Three Tiers Micro (Tier 1) Shop Floor with Employees Macro (Tier 2) Supervisor with Leaders Mega (Tier 3) Senior Management with Managers / Supervisors
Tiered Production Meetings
Micro (Tier 1) Daily huddle (start of shift or hand-off) with operators and supervisors.
What went right and what went wrong the day before. If something went wrong, what can be done today to improve?
Use of data helps determine what happened and projects what’s needed today.
Set expectations ahead of time so everyone is on the same page.
Discuss hindrances to daily production.
What’s holding back production?
Who’s escalating it?
Who’s solving it?
Who’s following up? Macro (Tier 2) Supervisors are communicating with leads about issues affecting planned vs. actual production.
Discuss progress against the goals for the day. Are you on schedule or behind? What can be done to meet demand if currently behind?
Does the section require assistance from another section of Operations, or can the section offer up resources to help other areas in need?
Mega (Tier 3) Communication between the Production Management Team (DC Leadership) and Managers/Supervisors.
From the Macro Tier 2 daily huddle, supervisors communicate issues back to management and then management provides a plan for addressing those issues. The supervisors relay the information back to their employees.
Extensive use of data tools (Qlik) to guide the discussion and decision process
