About this file

This document is a Question and Answer (Q&A) Set #1 for Invitation for Bid (IFB) DGS 56956, issued by the California Department of General Services (DGS) for Type 3 Wildland Fire Apparatus procurement for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE). The solicitation involves the acquisition of 15 custom fire apparatus, with the bid due date extended to August 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM. The Q&A document addresses two primary vendor inquiries: first, a request to modify the body attachment specification (which was denied, maintaining the requirement for full welding), and second, multiple requests for bid deadline extensions, which resulted in the revised submission date.

The Q&A set provides critical clarification on technical specifications and procedural details, demonstrating the state's commitment to maintaining rigorous standards for emergency response vehicle procurement. While the document itself does not detail pricing or comprehensive set-aside information, the related contract opportunity summary indicates socio-economic program opportunities targeting Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises (DVBE), Small Businesses, and the Target Area Contract Preference Act (TACPA). The procurement will be awarded on an "All or None" basis to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, with a comprehensive evaluation process that includes technical documentation, business credentials, and potential alternative equipment submissions.
