“Ignition Sense” KNG M150R Ignition Sense wiring is so that the radio will properly shut down and then boot up properly the next time it is turned on. The CPU in the RF Deck is a computer and the radio system requires time to save volatile memory and changes since last boot up. The RF Deck & the RCH are to be wired to same “Always Hot” 12VDC source. If either device is wired differently, the system will drain the vehicle battery in a few days! Don’t take short cuts nor ignore these instructions.

1.) KNG M150R Power Wiring Instructions “Always Hot” Ignition Sense Standard Please refer to the PSC Figure 17 and Figure 18 for detailed diagram of wiring. The KNG M150R has a Quick Connect male coupler that connects to the KAA0630 female coupler with Red & Black leads. The provided KAA0630 cable Red/Black 8 AWG wire is to be installed with a 10-inch service loop at the RF Deck. Then ran to the “Dog House” near the 12VDC + Positive terminal post. Then run the KAA0638 RCH install kit, cable Red/Black 16 AWG to same location.

The two (2) devices will have the + 12VDC source Red cable spliced to the output of the KLF-2 noise filter. The KLF-2 Red +12VDC source is to be wired to a 30 amp fuse inline to the “Always Hot” terminal post that is wired to the “Master” On/Off switch to the left of the Driver’s seat. The Black 8 AWG from the RF Deck is to be wired to the NEGATIVE ground bus inside the “Dog House.” All ground wires are to be a common ground, don’t create a ground loop. Radio is to be turned on/off via Ignition Sense. Connect a yellow 22 AWG Yellow wire jumper with female connector and couple to the Red/White wire male connector to the CCI M150 radio cable at the DB25 end.

Wiring Layout:

• Switched +12VDC Ignition Sense

• Power wiring +12VDC Red Common Ground Black

• Manufacturer needs to install 30-amp fuse. Previous deliveries had a 60-amp fuse which is too much current before it blows.

2.) KNG M150R Power wiring instructions “Ignition Sense” Standard Please refer to the PSC Figure 17 and Figure 18 for detailed diagram of wiring.

Figure 8: KAA0638 RCH install kit power cable

Connect the RCH to a Troy console faceplate custom made for the engine dash. The RCH should protrude about 1/8 of an inch from the faceplate. Use 10-32 ½-inch machine screws with #10 x ¾-inch fender washer – not the plastic knobs in the KAA0638. A star washer is to be put in between the faceplate flange and the RCH as a spacer to prevent bowing the faceplate. Tighten so that RCH doesn’t swivel, rattle, or recede later due to vibration.

RCH Custom Faceplate to be discussed at pre-construction conference.

Connect the DB 25 connector KAA0647 to the RCH - The radio kit comes with one (1) each for each device but RF Deck KAA0647 will not be used – CCI M150 cable is used instead.

Ignition Sense is not supported through the RCH Volume control is only via the RCH.

It is permitted to cut off quick disconnect coupler to splice and extend the speaker wires. Please refer to the PSC Figure 17 and Figure 18 for detailed diagram of wiring.

4.) Install BKRA-1-CF Radio Intercom adapter system Install the BKRA-1-CF in the bottom of the back half of Dog House console as pictured in Figure 4 of this specification. Connect CCI M150 cable from RF Deck to the “Radio” port of BKRA-1-CF.

Connect BKRA-1-CF to Intercom system.

Connect CCI SIG US-45S Intercom cable from BKRA-1-CF INTERCOM port to the Intercom system – a Sigtronics US-45S to be mounted as pictured in Figure 4.

Do not substitute Intercom system with any other model or manufacturer. The Intercom system is to be wired to the headset jacks as per the PSC Figure 17 and Figure 18 for detailed diagram of wiring.

The J1 cable harness that comes with the Sigtroniccs US-45S system wires are to be tinned with solder and connected to an insulated terminal strip – specified as:

• NTE ELECTRONICS BARRIER STRIP

• MODEL 25-E2000-12 European Style

• 20-12 AWG wire range Two (2) of these terminal strips are required and will be mounted in the console as to not to interfere with cables connecting the BKRA-1-CF or any other device. Figure 4 shows wrong type of terminal strip mounted in a bad location.

The Engine has five (5) wired jack ports for the SE-8 wired Headset & one (1) wireless SE-9 with a charging cable mounted to the speaker box on the ceiling. The Driver has the wireless SE-9 and a backup SE-8 with a PTT switch mounted to the front section of the Dog House console.

The Sigtroniccs US-45S system comes with a “CAROL C4063A” cable that is to be cut in custom lengths for each headset jack. The wiring is to be mated to the correct pinout detailed in the PSC Figure 17 and Figure 18 for detailed diagram of wiring.

The SWS-4 wireless system comes with a molex plug splitter that goes in between the US-45S P1 and the J1 harness to enable combined audio in between wireless headset and wired headsets. The SWS-4 wireless emitter is to be mounted with Sigtronics US-45S45S as pictured in Figure 4. The SWS-4 wireless charger is to be mounted in the speaker box on the ceiling and powered from console with an in-line 1-amp fuse provided in SWS-4 wireless box.

The wiring is to be done with attention to detail. Several Engines have had serious wiring problems that have required field modifications to resolve.

Antenna cables:

The antennas for AVL will be the Sky Wave satellite cable, Cellular antenna cables and one rear VHF coax. These cables will be routed down the passenger C pillar and terminated behind the passenger rear seat, excess cable will be wrapped up (Figure 11 right side).

Power and Ground:

8-gauge wire will be used for both power and ground on the AVL system, these can be sourced at the center console. A Maxi fuse holder must be installed at the power source, do not place a fuse in the holder.

The power and ground routing will follow the Radio cables to the passenger side and continue its travel under the seat belt retractor trim, then under the sill plate of the right rear door (Figure 12 left side), and finally being tucked behind the right rear seat belt retractor and corner paneling and become terminated behind the rear seat along with the Antenna cables.

Additionally, both power and ground will need an excess of 2 feet of wire wrapped up behind the seat to provide enough cable to reach our system.

Figure 12: Power and Ground Routing

Mobile Data Terminal cable and routing:

Three (3) cables will be loomed together with 5/8 inch loom. Ensuring the proper ends are together and spaced accordingly. Female serial cable end shall be paired with the 4 pin power cable connector, protruding 5 inches out of the loom. 8 inches beyond the serial and power cable end will be the CAT6 Ethernet cable, totaling 13 inches from the loom. (Figure 12 right side) Orientation of the power, serial and Ethernet cable is crucial for AVL operation.

The three (3) cables will be routed from the front of the console to behind the rear seat, following existing wire routing behind radio plate and under the passenger rear sill trim. Using the Diamond plate radio cover located behind the passenger front seat as a reference, we can ensure cable lengths will be adequate. 5 feet of the cables should be available from the Radio cover, ensuring the cable ends in Figure 12 right side are towards the front of the vehicle.

Secure the loose cable as shown in Figure 13.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Sky Wave satellite identification numbers must be recorded prior to installation on the vehicle.

Once you open the Sky Wave box you will find two (2) data label stickers and two (2) protective clear stickers. Remove one (1) data sticker and place on the top side of the satellite, in pen or sharpie write down the 5-digit state identification tag number on the sticker you have just placed on the top. Ensure the numbers are correct and cover with a protective clear sticker.

Additionally, the 5-digit state identification number should also be written on the box the satellite came in, and the box must remain with the vehicle for a second means of identification records.

It is imperative for both numbers to be recorded as stated above to ensure product connectivity to the specific antenna installed. The photos below are in reference to this statement.

Roof mounting of components will be discussed at pre-construction conference.
