About this file

This document contains responses to pre-proposal questions (PPQ) for solicitation number N4008420B6502 to overhaul Caisson Dry Dock No. 2 at Commander, Fleet Activities Sasebo in Japan. The Navy seeks a contractor to perform two construction sequences - overhauling the hydraulic operation system of the sluice valve, and overall overhaul of the caisson. The PPQ responses provide clarification that the contractor may attach pad eyes to the caisson by welding for towing purposes with an approved install plan. The responses also state the tentative schedule for work on the hydraulic pumps from August to December 2021, and lists the relevant equipment in the solicitation attachments. The quay fee for berthing the caisson during towing and repair work should be included in the contractor's price.
