Characteristic curves of the thermal type circuit breakers (molded case) must be compensated for the ambient temperature in which the circuit breakers are being tested.
Circuit breakers having the type SS solid-state over current relay should be tested using a secondary injection test set as described in manufacturer’s instruction manual C3-215-l, Section II, paragraph 7. This instruction manual is located in Chapter 7 of this manual.
Moisture condensation may occur when the switchboard is secured and the temperature of components reduced. Inspect the switchboards thoroughly after any such securing and remove all condensation. If necessary, de-energize the switchboard and wipe off moisture in the vicinity of the live parts with a clean dry cloth.
Dielectric tests as outlined in paragraph 5-3.1 are recommended during each overhaul period. The curve obtained should be compared with the curve obtained at installation.
Whenever possible, check the meters against standards, particularly if they have been subjected to overload, misuse, excessive vibration or shock, or if there is any reason to suspect inaccuracy.
