Attachment 3: Personnel Qualifications

Computational Physicist - The contractor shall provide a Computational Physicist with the capability of pursuing numerical simulation and analysis of physical systems. The

Computational Physicist shall:

1. Possess a demonstrated understanding of the design, implementation, and application of numerical models used to predict the behavior of physical systems.

2. Possess the demonstrated capability to apply existing simulation software, and contribute to modifying and creating simulation software, to characterize the behavior of physical systems, including applications involving processes such as fluid dynamics, diffusion, chemical reactions, noise generation, solid mechanics, and fluid-structure interaction.

3. Possess the demonstrated analytical capabilities required to draw insights and conclusions about the physical systems based on the simulation results.

4. Possess the demonstrated communication skills for conveying the results of modeling and simulation efforts and the analysis of the results in written and verbal form. These communication skills must include the ability to conduct and participate in meetings at which technical information is presented and discussed, prepare and deliver oral presentations of research results, and create written reports describing the research approach and results, along with observations and conclusions drawn from the work.

5. Education & experience required: BS in engineering or physics with 15 years of experience; MS in engineering or physics with 5 years of experience; or PhD in engineering or physics.

Computational Scientist - The contractor shall provide a Computational Scientist with the capability of pursuing software design, implementation, and development, both independently and in coordination with a team, for the high-performance computing enterprise. The Computational Scientist shall:

1. Possess a demonstrated understanding of the design, implementation, and deployment of system and simulation software.

2. Possess the demonstrated capability to create and develop software that enables capabilities such as data analytics, visualization, efficient parallelization, and optimization.

3. Provide performance analysis on software in terms of accuracy and implementation efficiency and deliver performance improvements through software revision within project requirements.
