1.0 SCOPE

This Statement of Work defines the efforts required for the fabrication, production, testing and Logistics Support services of the TB-29X Towed Array Assembly (hereinafter referred to as TB-29X) and associated TB-29X Array Receiver Unit, TB-29X Test Set and TB-29X Shipping Reel. This Statement of Work includes detailed requirements for First Article Manufacturing and Testing; TB-29X, TB-29X Array Receiver Unit, and TB-29X Test Set Production; and, Program Management, Data Management, Logistics Support, Configuration Management, Test and Evaluation, Installation support and Engineering Services. Engineering Services shall be performed as specified in the Contract and as clarified in individual Technical Instructions, which will be issued by the Government.

1.1 BACKGROUND

TB-29A/BQ (hereinafter referred to as TB-29A) Towed Arrays were introduced in 2002. The TB-29A is critical to Fleet operations because of the acoustic advantage it provides. Twenty TB-29A arrays were delivered between November 2001 and October 2005. To mitigate risk in the Thin Line Towed Array inventory due to delays in next generation development, 12 additional TB-29A/BQ Arrays were ordered and delivered to the Fleet between July 2010 and November 2012. A comprehensive reliability improvement program commenced in July 2008. This upgrade program included:

improved electrical screening tests; a ruggedized hose for the Forward Interface Module and the Aft Interface Module; a ruggedized harness assembly; more robust Towed Array Integrated Product Team Telemetry components for all array modules; and updated Operational Guidance. Greater reliability improvements are required to enable the Fleet to complete missions without interruptions due to array failures.

The TB-29X is the planned reliability improvement to the TB-29A with equivalent TB-29A performance capability.
