About this file
This is a specifications document for professional studio camera supporting pedestals prepared by the Illinois Office of Communication and Information (IOCI), under the Department of Central Management Services. The IOCI is seeking Sachtler brand name pedestals for its production studio located in Springfield, Illinois. The pedestals must meet minimum performance requirements including a payload capacity of 143 pounds for cameras and teleprompters, an adjustable height range of 25 to 50 inches, and a 30-inch on-shot stroke for height adjustment during filming of seated or standing subjects. Additional mandatory specifications include 360-degree panning range, 35-inch tracking width, 30-inch transit width, 25-inch narrow transit width, and a 20-inch steering ring diameter. The equipment must feature a fluid floating head with a damping system operational across temperatures from -40°F to +140°F, cable guards for wheels, and an interchangeable modular design with multiple base configurations to enable rapid camera position changes on both interior and exterior surfaces.
The specifications emphasize operational flexibility and ease of use for single camera operators, requiring smooth panning without jerks or vibrations, counterbalance systems that compensate for camera tilt torques, and safe operation at any position. Preferred features include a quick release system, automatic locking capability, vibrationless vertical and horizontal brakes, built-in illuminated bubble leveling, crab movement or standard steering for tracking, and the ability to operate in remote locations with or without electric power while displaying remaining pressure or usage indicators. The document lists optional accessories as permissible additions, and the pedestal must maintain perfect balance across the horizontal plane to support professional studio production requirements.
