3. Show surface deformation to the extent of becoming unsightly or cause leakage.

4. Chalk, pick-up dust or change color excessively.

5. Fail adhesively or cohesively where maximum elongation is less than 25% or designed width.

6. Harden to more than 25% over stated hardness.

B. Delivery, Handling and Storage

Deliver and store materials in strict accordance with manufacturer's printed instructions and the following:

1. Deliver materials in original unopened containers, packages, or bundles bearing manufacturer's name and product designation.

Where adjacent materials on each side of the joint are of different colors, the sealant color shall be as directed by COR. COR reserves the right to select color from the ranges specified hereinafter for each type of material. Unavailability of a specified and designated color in conjunction with any manufacturer's product requires that the Contractor provide a product of other specified manufacturer in which the designated color is available.

B. Caulking, sealants and back-up materials with designations as specified hereinafter refer to basic materials and application procedures. The drawings and details establish the basic size and dimension of the joint.

C. Primers shall be non-staining types as recommended by sealant material manufacturer for conditions of sealant use.

D. One part, 100% liquid polymer, acrylic base compound, non-sagging non-staining, gun consistency.

Comply with Federal Specification TT-S-30; shall be comparable to Tremco "MONO".

E. One part Butyl Polymers - Comply with Federal Specification TT-C-598b, Type I; shall be comparable to

Sonneborn "Butakauk".

PART 3 E X E C U T I O N

A. Caulking and sealants shall be provided at joints and recesses in exterior and interior construction where sealing is necessary to prevent infiltration of water, moisture, wind, sand and/or sound or light passage through joints and recesses.

B. Before applying joint compounds, all surfaces shall be absolutely clean and free of all dirt, grease, loose materials and foreign matter. If solvents are used the applicator shall exercise special care to wipe the dissolved contaminate and solvent from the surface. Use of solvents shall be subject to the compliance-confirmation of the COR. Tape facing surfaces adjacent to joints before applying joint compounds.

C. Primers shall be applied in strict accordance with manufacturer's printed instructions.

D. Install back-up materials, joint fillers, caulking and sealants in strict accordance with manufacturer's printed instructions. Joint back-up shall be accurately positioned within the joint to establish and control the uniform designated thickness of joint compound. Exercise care in the installation of joint backing to see that the backing is not set too far below the surface, thereby increasing the depth of the joint compound. Apply and to assure complete wetting of contact area to obtain uniform adhesion. During application keep tip of nozzle at bottom of joint, forcing sealant to fill from bottom to top. Move tip along joint at such a rate as to completely fill the joint. Finish joints smooth and flush, with adjacent surface unless detailed to be finished below the surface.

E. Bond-breaker tape, where required, shall be installed to prevent bonding of the joint compound with the bottom of the joint.

F. Install as detailed and more necessary to provide joints of greater depth than width. Adjust back-up materials accordingly.
