3 If the average ceiling height is 15’0” and sprinklers need to be 18” min from shelving, are we to limit shelving to a 13’6” height max?
Object is to maximize shelving capacity as well as to adapt to variations in ceiling heights. Variations are in general areas and not piecemeal.
4 At the three locations that have step downs – can the these areas be treated as three distinct and separate mezzanines not requiring the areas to be inter-connected?
Preference is for interconnectivity as conditions and design allow.
5 Can installation start in any area of the building or is there a pre-defined start location?
Predefined; North and South, working toward the middle. The design and install will dictate.
6 Will any portions of the building with shelving be turned over prior to the completion of the entire installation?
No.
7 Is it possible this could be a set aside? The requirement is not a set aside. The government market research did not indicate that this requirement was viable as a small business set aside.
8 So we wanted to know if the only allowable bidders are the ones that attended the mandatory site visit.

9 Could you please extend the questions deadline past 8/17 so that our engineers can review and get the answers to the following:
Per the FBO announcement final RFP questions to be submitted NLT 8/24/16. Amend 000003 also clarifies due date.
10 There was discussion in the meeting yesterday that the landlord has lighting drawings, can we have those drawings please?
There is no lighting plan. Offerors should optimize the number of records you can put in the facility and we will design the lighting around them.
11 Is there a lighting plan? See response to question 10.
12 Clarification on lighting and HVAC systems-do the shelving plans need to be based around these plans or will the lighting and HVAC be designed around the shelving designs. *this needs to be clarified in the RFP
There is no lighting plan. Offerors should optimize the number of records you can put in the facility and we will design the lighting around them. The same applies to the HVAC, design is TBD based on shelving design.
13 Are you open to other solutions than the shelving/catwalk/mezzanine solution? If so, how should that be presented to you in this process?
The catwalk/mezzanine system that is specified in the solicitation is what is required.
14 Are we interested in alternate proposal for that might not include catwalks? The catwalk/mezzanine system that is specified in the solicitation is what is required.
15 What is the overall goal of the shelving- to maximize the number of boxes being stored; to have it look like the existing shelving, etc? Does it have to be a catwalk/mezzanine system or could it be a whole different approach (such as what NARA has)?
The goal is to maximize shelving. The catwalk/mezzanine system that is specified in the solicitation is what is required.
16 Is this project funded yet? There was mention of several site surveys already taken place, just wanted to know if you are looking for budgetary numbers or firm price by 9/2.
This project is funded and the Government intends to make an award this fiscal year.
17 Can you email the PowerPoint from the meeting yesterday? Mostly we’re interested in the photos.
